All in a days work

Hello dear friends,

Have not been around much on my blog - with the lovely sunny weather we have been having, every chance to get outdoors in the fresh air, swimming in the sea and just relaxing is what we have been doing. Some nights we have had a BBQ (DH is a great chef) for dinner with salads and always a nice way to cook outdoors. Bringing in a big bunch of lavender is a wonderful thing and I love the fragrance around the house.

Having the family home has been great and we were sad to have to say goodbye to our son yesterday, as he had to go back to the City.  
The outdoor teak furniture which had weathered to silver, from endless summers, got a new lease of life with oil.

The builder came back again today to finish the job he started last week. We have been listening to a circular saw all afternoon  but it is great to have the job almost completed. 
Loving the new wonderful floor in the lounge and the hallway, so will soon be able to share some photos.
We are so happy that we are getting there with our renovation job which seems to be taking forever!
 Whatever you are up to today... I hope you can take a minute to relax.

Hi dear friends,

Do hope that you are enjoying the weekend and maybe you have sunshine where you are.

We have stormy weather here, with rain and one of those days where you just want to stay indoors and be snug and warm and do all the inside jobs, or curl up in a chair with a good book.

The lounge is coming on well - have finished all the painting, so the next job will be to put up the wallpaper. 

Last night we looked at lighting and there are some beautiful lights out there. 

My Laduree tote is so cute, that I bought in Paris

 Life is filled with beauty, often in the smallest and simplest things and everyday they can make us happy.

Happy special Mother's day

A special time of celebration to all Mother's and the influence they have on their children to make them who they are.
It is probably one of the hardest jobs, but so rewarding.

I am so thankful to my dear Mother, for all the love, kindness, patience, strength, always caring  and all she has taught me.

When my kids were growing up, I loved to get their sweet little cards, handmade gifts and the precious drawings. Breakfast in  bed was so sweet with a tray set and felt like such a lucky Mother.

I am so proud of the beautiful adults my two have become and feel so blessed.

I will be leaving for a short break away, my DH is taking me to Surfers Paradise in Australia to celebrate a birthday. So I will be taking a little blog break.

Lavender days

The old time favourite Lavender is always around.

I love the fragrance, the beautiful purple flowers,  walking out in the garden, breathing in the heavenly scent and how it attracts the bees from far and near.

Lavender sachets tucked in  a wardrobe and the underwear drawer always make everything smell divine.

Interestingly enough, the French word 'to wash' is the verb laver.

Taking a bath in essential oil,  relieves tension and restores vitality, calms the mind  and relaxes the body.

Out in my garden

This is what is flourishing in my garden today ~ we had a gentle shower of rain this morning when I went out.

I love the way the raindrops formed on the camellia flower

I was excited to see two ripe strawberries on the plant,  when I went back to pick them a bird had pecked away and all that was left was the stalk, so I reckon that the bird needed them more than I did.

Hope that there might be more to come and will have to be quicker next time

Can you see the bumblebee getting the nectar from the flowers on the lemon tree? 

I often wonder how they fly, they seem so big.

I am sorry for being such a bad blog friend these days.

I want to thank you for your kindness in visiting my blog and I  look forward to coming to say hello and see what you are up to.

All is dandy here, life just seems to be busy.

Yesterday I made a trip to visit my hairdresser and I love the transformation, when you walk out feeling like a new person.

The weather was not perfect for taking photos as you can see by the shadows that were about, but I wanted to get outdoors to share a few snaps with you today.
It is such a nice time of the year here, and a great time to get out in the garden.

Happy weekend

Spring is wisteria and lavender seen against a blue sky.
Birds are nesting and daylight is lengthening, thoughts of summer is just around the corner.
Washing flapping in the breeze and blowing away the cobwebs of winter.
The air is full of pretty fragrances and it is a joy to go outside and take it all in.



I hope that you are all having a wonderful weekend, on this remarkable date of the 10/10/10.
We have been having a big clean up, around the house. Once every two years we have an inorganic rubbish collection so we have been gathering up a lot of stuff to put out at the road front.
The funny part about this is there are people driving around the roads with their trailers, picking through the rubbish. Don't they say, "what is one Mans rubbish, could be someones treasure."

Lavender and Hyacinths.

I loved picking a little bunch of lavender for the house.
I planted some of these the other day, so I hope that mine will look as pretty as on the packet.
I also pruned the roses, one of those jobs that it is always great when you finish, with all the thorns.
Also have these magazines to sit down and enjoy.

One of the most tragic things I know about human nature, is that all of us tend to put off living.
We are dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses blooming outside our windows today.

Friday flowers

Friday flowers taken from my garden, this week.

Oh .... and exciting news!
I was telling you about the nest and birdseggs, outside our Sons window ~ well they have hatched out and there are three rather ugly little pink birds in the nest.
Marcel climbed a tree to take a photo of the nest and will share the photos soon.
We will take more photos when they look a little better with feathers.
It is so cold so I hope Mother bird looks after her little ones and keeps them warm.






It is a cold, wet, and windy day here and I would like to be spending the weekend at home.
However, one must do what they have to, so we are driving down Country soon, to spend Saturday sorting out some things at our Family home.

I want to wish you a happy weekend and I look forward to coming to visit, on my return.
