At long last!

It's been a busy weekend here, but lovely.

I know it seems like forever since we began our lounge makeover, but we are almost there and I can breath a sigh of relief. It did not help with the first effort of the wallpaper, {sigh} which sadly we had to tear off and get the gib stopper back again  ... all good fun!

It only took some friends that we invited for a little dinner party on Saturday evening, to get into top gear and motivate us into getting the room finished,  it was lovely to have guests back in our house again.
There are still a few more things to finish ... rugs for the floor and shutters for the windows, that we are getting made and to hang a few more paintings and pictures up.

I unpacked some of the boxes that the china had been stored away, washed everything and they are now back on the antique kauri dresser.

We are loving the new look ... the white { Magnolia blush} is fresh  and with the sun shinning in, makes the room bright and warm. Even on a winters day I have had to throw open the French doors, as it gets a little too cozy. The white wooden floors are fabulous to clean and I am happy that we did not go for carpet. Will share some more soon .

Thank you so much for stopping by.
Hope your weekend has been lovely and now wishing you a happy new week
hugs
Carolyn

  4. Dearest Carolyn,
So glad you are finally getting to the last stages of remodeling your lounge! That will be a happy moment for marking it off your list of to do things! So far things look really nice and yes, we too are glad we have no more carpet in our entire home! We're looking forward to finishing our balcony. The rails for the balusters have to come in by truck, all the way from Texas because of their 12 feet (3.60 m) lengths. Let's hope they arrive coming week and we can finally finish that project as well.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  28. Carolyn,
Your lounge looks so lovely. The black fireplace looks very nice against the white walls. I bet it so fun for you having a dinner party for your friends knowing that the work was all finished. I love that blue china. For some reason, blue tea cups are the prettiest to me. My wedding china was even in blue.

So glad you're done with the room. It looks great. I love that antique dresser.

    Love,

I'm so sorry to hear that you had problems with the wallpaper and had to remove it again. Wonderful to hear that you once again can enjoy nice dinner party evenings with friends in your pretty home!

  48. Carolyn, you have accomplished a beautiful makeover, and I like the white floors and crisp look of it all.

I was in Provins a few months ago and will have posts from time to time of my photos. It was such an easy trip out of Paris. Although there was an abundance of rain, it made for nice photos.

    (Love your new/old linens)
