Happy St Valentines day
We often don't have a dessert unless a birthday or special occasion, but what better way to say how much you love someone, by making a special dessert.
So last evening I made this yummy dessert - served with a spoonful of vanilla icecream, went down a treat.
Here is the recipe if you would like to make this.
Cherry Clafoutis
500 (1 lb ) cherries, stalks removed and I actually removed the stones too
30g (1 oz ) unsalted butter
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons plain all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
pinch salt
1/3 cup caster sugar (superfine)
4 eggs lightly beaten
1 1/2 (12 fl oz) cups milk
30 g (1oz) unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons brandy
Preheat oven to 180 (350/Gas 4)
Melt butter in large frying pan and add cherries. Cook 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle over sugar, cook over medium heat 5 minutes or until juices form. Remove from heat; cool.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt into a medium bowl. Add sugar.
Whisk eggs and milk in another bowl, then stir into flour mixture. Stir in combined butter and brandy.
Place the cherries in a shallow ovenproof dish. Pour batter over the top.
Bake 40 minutes or until puffed and just set when tapped in the centre.
Serve hot or warm dusted with sifted icing sugar.
