Snorkeling in the underwater world.

Pictures do not really show how beautiful this place was,  and just want to share a few more snaps of our holiday.
One of the highlights of our trip was the wonderful underwater world, home to a teaming fauna of fish of all shapes and bright colours, swimming around the coloured coral seabed.
Every day we would put on our snorkels and flippers and jump off the little deck of the villa.

The water was crystal clear and was great swimming around with the tropical fish.   They always seemed to be friendly and hungry and we would buy a bag of fish food and they would feed from your fingers.
On the last night we were sitting on the deck relaxing with a G&T, when my husband looked down and saw a shark slithering through the water. Apparently they are reef sharks and according to the book  that I read about the place in our villa, they are said to be harmless to humans.
I was so glad that I had not seen one when we were swimming around, think I would have had heart failure.
Breakfast was a favourite meal, for me with the fresh pineapple, melon, guava, pawpaw and all the delicious tropical fruit that was abundant.
I think this is a pawpaw hanging from the tree - can anyone tell me please, if I am correct.

We sat poolside with this most delectable cocktail
Thank you for stopping by today~
I have to say merci, to all who took the time to leave me a comment, with the first French lesson ~ it went really well.
Hope you are having a wonderful week
hugs
Carolyn

  1. What a place of beauty! I have a thing for clear, clean water. :) This looks like a place where no problems or troubles allowed. :) And those drinks, they look too yummy for words. I need one about now. :)

Hope you are having a beautiful week, Caroline.

  2. Carolyn,
I have always wanted to go snorkeling. How wonderful that you went! To see what is beneath the sea is truly amazing. My husband and son are surfers, and I am always thinking about the sharks when they are in the ocean catching the waves. These are beautiful pictures, Carolyn. Thank you for sharing them.

  3. Hi Carolyn, Swimming with the fishes must have been a lot of fun. What a good thing that no shark came by while you were in the water. That would have freaked me out too. The cocktails look very tempting.
    Have a great evening!

  4. Dearest Carolyn,
What an incredible experience to swim so freely with those fish and have them eat from your hands. Oh, tropical fruits would be my favorite too but I cannot help you with the one you show on the tree.
    Hugs to you,
    Mariette

  12. Good morning beloved Carolyn! While your photos are lovely, I don't think any photo could ever give us the feeling of BEING THERE....and experiencing MORE than the visual sense. A place like this requires being there and lucky YOU!!! Anita

  21. Mmm! Your breakfast sounds wonderful Carolyn :)

I've been snorkeling off the shores of Maui and had a reef shark slither by. I am NOT comfortable in the water in the first place, so this scared me so much. I was fortunately with my husband who (thankfully) remained calm.

Such a lovely vacation you had here.

  24. What a great trip you had, Carolyn. Don't you love snorkeling? I never fed the fish when I snorkeled in Maui. And if I would have seen a shark, I would have FREAKED out!!! Good for you for tackling French lessons again. I bet the second time around will be a lot easier...

Well, I have broken ear drum and cannot swim. But always wonder if I can put earplug and snorkeling, haha. I heard it is different from swimming.

  36. In Mexico...a huge coral fish swam right under me while we were snorkelling .... I was so shocked and scared I swam at about 90 miles per hour in the opposite direction. Greg said I was mostly on top of the water ..hardly in it at all... paddling and splashing madly in my fins.... snorkel went flying .... I was breathless by the time I got out onto the dock.... Supposedly they are harmless ...but, the size of it! bigger than me! and the fact I didn't see it til it was right under me...
Later, I did get a decent pic of it ..... from above .... hahahhah
