25 Champs Elysees, Room # 5

Number 5 Champs Elysees, was the room we stayed in when we were in Paris at the Hotel Pavia. ( I did a post a while back and showed some photos )
Our room was on the top floor and the middle room. Had the smallest lift I have ever been in and went ever so slowly and was so glad when the little cage finally made it to our floor.

I loved the black paint, toile wallpaper and the stripey drapes in the bedroom.
My DH brushing up on our French phrase book , so we could try and " parlez Francais un petit peu", when we went out.

This was the beautiful picture hanging on the wall in our room, love the glamour and sophistication from a bygone era.

Aux Champs Elysees ~
A video about beautiful Paris with this wonderful song from Joe Dassin ( French singer)
I love this song and it makes my heart flutter when I hear it.
When we were at a Restaurant in Montmatre, a guy was playing this on the piano and singing...very romantic.

Hope that you are enjoying your week, it is Thursday here already, did the week speed up?
Seems like that for me.
Thank you for visiting me and the kind birthday wishes for my husband, he said to say many thanks.

Hugs
Carolyn

  1. Dearest Carolyn,

Paris does offer so much culture and history. Especially for all of us now living in a 'New World' where the buildings are never centuries old. Yeah, one advantage is the roomy lifts we got... When we did tour Spain and Portugal, with a stay in Paris, on a luxury bus from The Netherlands it was often scary to use those narrow and slow lifts. We certainly were glad we came with our carry-on (at that time the larger ones were still allowed on planes!) otherwise it would be a problem!
But that aside, it's just the fact that the buildings are not set up for a comfy lift, you had a great time! Oui un petit peu français is helpful for you and anyone dealing with you.
Thanks for bringing fond memories back to me as well. Now I'm living here, Paris is not a regular hop anymore. It used to be only 5 hrs by car...

    Lots of love,

    Mariette

  2. Hi Carolyn,

I love your blogs new look!

If you had looked closely, you would have found pieces of my heart all around Paris - I love that place - so romantic and enchanting. What a great room you stayed in, those curtains are great and love those old elevators. I stayed in a hotel in France one time, it had been an old post office at one time - it was great.

Have a great end of the week!

  4. Hi Carolyn, I love that toile wallpaper and the picture in your hotel room. Wow, the ceilings had been very high.
I hadn't listened to Joe Dassin for quite a while but after you had mentioned him, I went straight to our CD shelf and played L'Été Indien, which is my favorite. Thank you for reminding me of him. I think I'll listen to his music in my studio today. Now I wish I could beam myself to a nice place in France to have a lovely breakfast :-).
    Have a great evening!
    Hugs to you,
    Julia

  7. Oh Carolyn!!!! Our students at my school learn this song in FIRST GRADE and this song is usually sung with MUCH AFFECTION during our assemblies! Oh wonderful are the memories, Carolyn and I LOVE THAT BLACK DOOR! And as for the lifts? SHEESH! TINY! I remember my apartment in Nice France had those and I dared not use them for I am a bit claustrophobic in such a tight squeeze, so I had to take 5 flights of stairs instead; I kept very slim in those days!

So good to see you dearest and enjoy your day!!! Anita

  19. Hi Carolyn, happy belated birthday wishes to your husband. It seems that June is a busy birthday month for many. Carrot cake is one of my faves, especially homemade. Your trip to Paris must have been wonderful. Hubby has been on business several times but I haven't made it there yet. One day ... I can't watch the video. :/ For some reason it is restricted here. Have a great weekend. :) Tammy

  23. Bonjour Carolyn,
Great photos of your room - the lifts are all tuny in Paris. I believe it is because the building are so old, and were added much later. It is always a relief to get off!
    Bonne weekend,
    Mimi

  25. Good morning precious Carolyn!

YES! YESTERDAY (Friday) was out last day of school and it was quite emotional and physically draining. I came home to eat dinner and was already drowsy but the neighbors had invited us over for an evening under the stars and so I was unable to get to my blogging so I am way behind! BUT I AM FREE, with the exception of having three days worth next week of meetings. AHHH! But this is it; NO MORE SCHOOL until late August!

I will BE BACK!!!! Now off to compose a blog post! Anita
