Those who receive a Valentine card, might like to know there really was a St Valentine and he really did die for love ~ the love of God. And he seems to have been quite the romantic as well.
Engaged couples who wanted Christian marriages had to exchange vows in secret.Valentine was one of those that carried out these ceremonies and risked death, but it was a risk Valentine thought worth taking.
Eventually, he was caught and while waiting for execution, legend has it he restored the sight of his jailer's daughter. She fell in love with him and pleaded for his life, but to no avail.
The night before he died Valentine wrote to her, signing his note ~ "From your Valentine"
Loving messages have been exchanged in Valentine's name ever since.
Have a wonderful week ~
Hugs

That's not the story I've heard about St. Valentine....your version is (I hope) the true one...because if the version I know is the true story...Valentines is an evil day... :)
Your version makes me want to have a Valentine, though... :)
Sorry Suzi, sending hugs your way.
