What I got up to in the weekend
Country Living
I have had a really busy weekend and it is good to be back home again.
Spent all day sorting through our family home, bit of sadness when you see things like your Dads drivers license and little things like that.
It was lovely to catch up with my Brother his wife and my Sister and her husband and we cleaned and sorted through things.
I got some lovely treasures that I will show some photos of what I got, another time.
My husband and I were so tired when we got back to the City that after the traveling and the work we had done, we felt stiff and found it hard to walk.
I am looking forward to coming to visit your blogs and to see what you are up to.
I was delighted to receive this beautiful Kreativ blogger award from Traude from
rostrose.blogspot.com
Many thanks Traude.
I now have to tell you 7 things about myself.
1 My family is very important ~ we enjoy doing things together and are very close.
2 I love writing letters, with pen and on nice stationery and nothing better than to receive a letter in the mailbox.
3 I love all the blogs I read and to all the people who read my blog and are kind enough to leave me a comment, I like you a lot and want to say many thanks.
4 A day pottering around in the garden, watching bees in the lavender and beautiful birds flying about, is a great way to spend the day.
5.I enjoy cooking, eating and sharing a meal with family and friends.
6.I love this time of the year when we move outdoors to eat most of our meals, especially in the weekend. We had breakfast out on the deck yesterday, watching Tuis, and it looked like they were making nests in a tree, as they were carrying twigs in their beaks.
7.I do not twitter or use facebook, as I spend way too much time now sitting at the computer.
Now to pick someone to nominate for this award, I love all the blogs I read and it is very hard to pick just a few as I think you all deserve this, but I will go by the rules and here are the ones I have picked.
laughingwithangels.blogspot.com
sassyminidolls.blogspot.com
afancifullife.blogspot.com
truebluecanadian.blogspot.com

I just want to wish you a happy week.
Hugs

Carolyn
Congratulations on the award, Carolyn! I enjoyed reading more about you.
ReplyDeleteI sympathize with you on finding little reminders of your wonderful father. I am unpacking boxes and boxes of stuff from our move, and I find myself succumbing to emotions whenever I open a box of my husband's clothes and belongings. Both comforting and heartbreaking.
xoxo
Oh Bella, I sympathize with you and it must be such a difficult time.
ReplyDeleteYou have been through so much.
Sending hugs and love to you and the girls and I hope that you find comfort, my friend.
I hope that all is going well for the move in to your new home.
Hugs
Carolyn
Dear Carolyn, what a busy weekend you've had but so great that you were all together. Im sure you've got a lot of special treasures.
ReplyDeleteI have one of Dad's jersey's, in fact the one he wore to my 50th birthday. It has a hole in the seam and it's an old fairisle pattern but I can see him wearing it, it still smells faintly of Dad and I will never wash it. Whenever I'm cold, I throw it over my lap! It's priceless.
I am hoping the sadness was tinged with some fond memories as you came across some of your old family treasures Carolyn.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your award. You deserve some 'loveliness'!
Amanda xx
may you get refreshed after all the things you have been through!
ReplyDeletehave a lovely week, dear.
xoxo
Hello my dearest friend!!!
ReplyDeleteCOMPLIMENTS a lot for your award!!!
...the winner is???
CAROLYN!!!
KISSES a lot my dear and have a wonderful week! ;o) NI
Thank you very much for the award Carloyn. I will be passing it on in a few days. Right now we are busy with Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteI was glad to hear that you didn't have to sort through the family home on your own and that your family was there to help. It does lighten the load.
Take care.
Hi Carolyn
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to read about the passing of your father. May he rest in peace and that you find comfort with some of his things that are now with you in your home.
(((hugs)))
rue
Dear Carolyn, oh yes, I can remember the "sorting days" and finding all those little things of my father, too... How fine, that you haven't been alone, but could share it with your family!
ReplyDeleteI am happy that the award let you tell us more about you and your likeable life!
And thank you so much telling me about the "Hundertwasser-Toilets" in Kawakawa! I knew that the Artist loved New Zealand and that he's burried there - but I've never seen pictures of the funny public toilets (now I've "googled" it). Some years ago I made a project for children in the "KunstHausWien" - that's the Hundertwasser-Museum of Vienna (childrens art with tiles, it was very funny!!!) The KunstHausWien is a really wonderful, funny place *), and so was the project! Some day I will tell in my blog about it... It is so fine that New Zealand and Austria is connected by art!
Lots of Hugs, Traude
*) Here you may have a look to it (pleas look at the "Details" of "Museum Hundertwasser" and "Cafe Restaurant":

Dear Karen,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting. A lovely story of the fairisle jersey you have of your Dads and it is the little things like that, which help. Sending hugs.

thank you dear Susan for your kindness and I hope that you are having a great week.
Always wonderful to have you visit dear Ni, thank you and I hope that you week is wonderful.
Hi Dolores,
I was happy to give you the Award and you are very welcome.

Hi Rue,
Many thanks for your kind words and I am looking forward to seeing your new kitchen.
Dear Traude,
Yes, great to think that Austria and New Zealand have a connection, through Art.
I have read quite a lot about this Artist and I knew that he passed away in NZ.
Many thanks for the Award.

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteI hope you have rested up from your weekend. My heart goes out to you as you continue to deal with the loss of your dear father. Clinging to the wonderful memories and leaning on the love and support of family members will get your through. May you also find comfort in some of the cherished momentos you brought home with you.

Hi Carolyn, Oh I know the story of going through the old treasures too well. My hubby and I did the same when my parents passed away. It was travel involved like you, and lots of work to empty and sort the family home. I can so understand how tired you must have been. I also remember feeling so sad to see my dad's liscense and I still have it. I am sure you came home with some treasures to love for years to come.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are enjoying your nice weather and the outdoors.
Congrats on the award. You are so deserving. I enjoyed reading a bit more about you too.
Thank you for sharing.
Hope you can get some rest this week. See you again soon.
