Audrey Hepburn
Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's ~ I think has to be one of her most memorable roles.
I am sure we all have a movie star that we adore and my favourite, would have to have been Audrey Hepburn.
4th May, 1929 was her birth date so I just wanted to remember her, with a few photos and a little about her.
Graceful, confident, cheery intelligent, beautiful, kind these are the words that are often used to describe Audrey Hepburn.
No wonder decades of Women have been inspired by her unique character.
Pearls, the little black dress, flashy hats, ballet flats, evening gowns, silk scarfs, always breathtaking, but simple.
Her style epitomizes the kind of Fashion I love and she was voted No. 1 for her style.
By the late 1980's Audrey's film career was coming to a close.
Instead of settling down to a comfortable retirement, she began the job that would occupy the last 5 years of her life. She was a Special Ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund doing Humanitarian Work.
She died of Colon cancer at the age of 64.
Quote ~
For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

ReplyDeleteI too love Audrey Hepburn and when you mentioned in your post about other favourites, I immediately thought of the other Hepburn, Katharine. Here's wikipedia's entry:

Audrey Hepburn remains to this day, and always will, one of my top most favourite stars. I own several of her movies and watch them quite often. Lately I've been enjoying "How to steal a million". She was dressed by Givenchy in this movie, as in so many other movies. Thank you for this lovely tribute. I have loaned out B at Tiffany's but it's time to recall it and watch it again soon...
ReplyDeleteI love that quote - it shows she was beautiful inside and outside, and wise.
ReplyDeleteHi Lavinia,
ReplyDeleteThey are movies that are fun to watch over again. I just love old movies.
She was an impecccable Lady and her clothes are still so wearable today.

What a lovely trbute to the amazing Audrey Carolyn! UNICEF is one of my favourite charities & she worked so tirelessly as their International Ambassador. Her son Sean Hepburn Ferrer wrote the most wonderful book about his Mother, 'Audrey Hepburn, An Elegant Spirit: A Son Remembers'. It's worth getting hold of if you can.
ReplyDeleteMillie ^_^
Hi Millie,
ReplyDeleteShe was an amazing Lady with doing so much work, for UNICEF as an International Ambassador.
I will have to look for the book written by her Son. Thanks.
