The Reading and Powder room

 Here are some more pictures, taken inside the Royal Automobile Club.

Through a doorway we came into the Reading Room which made my heart flutter a little faster. 

I imagine being back in bygone days when everyone dressed up in their finery and came here for some peace and quite,  to catch up on their reading.

I loved all the old books behind the glass... you could just imagine the old musty smell, that  only you get with age.

 

 

The sandblasted glass window to the Ladies room, where you could go and powder your nose.

Along all the corridors of this magnificent old building, were the loveliest old photographs.

This one, I thought was really sweet with the precious little children and looked like one of the very first ways of getting from A to B.

I am looking forward to visiting you,  and thanks to new followers and  for the kind visits from you.

My husband and I spent most of Saturday stripping off the wallpaper and we only have one more wall to go!

Royal Automobile Club

It was like stepping back in time, where we stayed at the Royal Automobile Club, while in Sydney. 
The evening we arrived, we walked along the red carpet, and felt like how movie stars must feel, going to a special event. Only to be told that a wedding was taking place later on. 
Well it seemed special while it lasted and we were free to dream.

Situated right near Circular Quay, we looked out towards the busy harbour with boats coming and going all the time and the trains rumbled along the tracks close by  and we could see the Harbour bridge out the window,  this was a fun place to stay .
Double glazed glass is wonderful, making our bedroom very quiet, with all the noise going on outside.

Come inside and I will show you around... the grand lounge was magnificent and I  loved the sparkly chandelier and the gorgeous glass dome ceiling

The photos really do not this gorgeous place justice, as everything was so ornate and on a grand scale.

Here is the elaborately adorned ceiling which I think looked like it may have been made from pressed tin.
Next I will show you the reading room and a few more photos, from around Sydney.

I am now going to go back, to  stripping some more of the old wallpaper off the lounge walls. When we did the wallpapering all those years ago, we made sure that it was going to last and stay put!
