Italy's postcard pretty Island
Buongiorno
While we were staying in Venice, we took a day trip out on a boat to the tiny, picturesque Burano Island.
Famous for its brightly coloured fishermen's houses, little restaurants near the canals where you could pop in for lunch and where you can admire the exquisite handmade lace.
This is a photographers paradise, as where ever you go there is vivid colours all around, bridges crossing the canals and lots of little shops where you are able to buy souvenirs to take back home.
So that was our colourful day spent on Burano
Wishing you a very happy weekend
hugs
Carolyn

The houses on that island are so lovely and cheerful. We've been to Italy a few times but never to Venice. Maybe one day ...
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend, dear Carolyn!

It's my dream to someday travel to Italy. I'll have my map out looking for this island! How beautiful! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they have a town meeting to decide who paints their house what color. What a pretty and bright place.

Carolyn, there is a town in California called Capitola that has these bright colored houses, and they are so charming. Love that soft Pink one in Venice, and the canals are lovely. I hope you bought a little something to take home at one of the shops. : )
ReplyDeletelove, ~Sheri
The colours of all those buildings are wonderful, it is just as well I haven't been there as I would definitely taken too many pictures. Sarah x

I have been to Venice many times, but sadly haven't been to the island. Such a shame, but I guess that means I need to go back. Have a great week.

Oh, that's wonderful, dearest Carolyn!
ReplyDeleteAbout 25 years ago I made a trip to Burano, too! And I think it hasn't changed very much since then. It's still colorful and pretty. (May be there are more motorboats in the water nowadays...)
Lots of hugs, my dear and thanks for your your nice comment. It must make you very proud to look at a photo of your son Marcel with a falcon on his gloved hand - I'm sure he looks as professional as one of the adventorous falconers we've seen.

This is amazing. Though painted colors are vivid and different from each other, the row of houses still keep a good harmony.
ReplyDeleteI love the colorful houses!
ReplyDeleteYour lovely photos make me miss Venice.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend,Carolyn.
