Our new kitchen

the cupboard to the left is where the washing machine is

The past few months have gone very fast and have not had much time to sit down at the computer, so hopefully will be able to get over to visit you soon.
We are about 95% finished and there are just a few more little jobs that need to be taken care of.
Lets take a look

I am enjoying cooking and baking in the Smeg oven and love the old retro look  -  gas hobs and electric oven which seems to be very efficient.
The bench tops are white Carrara marble which is great to keep clean, after the concrete bench tops we had. The Spanish subway tiles proved to be difficult to lay in the corners, I was told by the tiler as they are uneven on the surface.
A Villeroy and Boch Butlers sink and Perrin and Rowe taps give an old fashioned look which is what we were after.

We had to upgrade the lighting system and chose a pair of Antique, French Enamel Industrial lights, and they are a dark French blue colour.  Also have used LED strip lighting in the pantry and down lights over the sink.

The flooring has a distressed look and very pleased with how it turned out
A little cabinet to display a few precious pieces of China and glassware

We took out two windows and replaced them with bi-fold doors that lead out onto the deck
The sun streams into the kitchen and it is great to be able to walk out to the outdoor dining table

Lastly a few little knick-knacks on the shelves.
I am loving our new kitchen and it has been worth the long wait and having to move out and go and stay in the City

Do hope all is well with you
Wishing you a happy week
hugs
Carolyn

  14. Your new kitchen is wonderful, Carolyn. Love all the charming features. The Butlers sink is very nice, and the glass cabinet is pretty displaying some of your china pieces. I really like the knick knack shelves - I think that's my favorite thing. With all your personal touches like the tea pot, the utensil holder, the coffee pot, and the flowers, your kitchen says "welcome" to me. : ) Enjoy your new kitchen, Carolyn.
