Today is one of those rainy days and the perfect weather to get cozy in a chair and look at my beautiful new books I was lucky to get, for my birthday gifts.
I love looking and reading beautiful books.
The Little Paris Kitchen was a book, I mentioned about on my blog a while back.
After having watched Rachel's cooking series on Television I was excited when my sweet daughter gave me this wonderful cook book.
Already I have made something from it ... creme caramel for dessert last night which was most delicious and my husbands favourite dessert.
Two Greedy Italians, was given to my husband from daughter - a while back we enjoyed watching the series of the two old friends, Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo embark upon an amazing journey back to their homeland in order to reconnect with their culinary heritage, to explore past and current traditions and to reveal the very soul of Italian gastronomy.
Their humor, wisdom and passion for good simple food, makes this an essential book for anyone with a genuine interest in Italian food.
My lovely Son, gave me this big beautiful book ' Balenciaga' which I have been enjoying reading.
Cristobal Balenciaga (1895-1972) was one of the most outstanding couturiers of his time.
He made very beautiful coats and magnificently tailored suits as well as pretty delicate lace and silk dresses.
His immense talent made him one of the greatest and highly acclaimed fashion designers of the 20th century.
Despite his fame, Balenciaga always remembered Getaria, his mother and his old sewing machine.
Here I have shared a few pages, of his elegant clothes.
Love the exquisite sequin work, looks like gorgeous flowers, on this wedding dress
A Woman has no need to be perfect or even beautiful to wear my dresses; the dress will do all that for her.
~ Cristobal Balenciaga
Our wonderful children came over for the night, a late celebratory birthday dinner party, for my dear husband and their Father.
It was lovely to see them and the house seems quiet now they have gone back.
The weather has turned so wild, wet and windy and one of those days that on the Island, our power sometimes goes out. So I will now go and prepare dinner now, just in case.
Hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend
hugs
Carolyn

ReplyDeleteHugs from here
Amazing, I love Balenciaga, great gift from your son!
ReplyDeleteI have to gift you italian cook book ... of italian chef, so you can cook and taste italian food from italian chef ...
In my opinion, and I saw many Italo-American chef cook on tv, they really don't cook like here in Italy, they try to cook italian food but is not the same.
I don't want to offend anyone, but in Italy we cook totally different from italo-american chef ...
Bisou, Babi
What marvelous books, Carolyn. I'd love to see the Balenciaga book. What gorgeous photos! Love the title Greedy Italians. :)
ReplyDeleteThe difference in our seasons makes quite a difference in what we post re our recipes...of course I notice it with my Donna Hay subscription. Your summer is our winter and vice versa. Easily overcome; just like you, I save the recipes when ingredients are in season.
Have a wonderful rest of the week!
Hugs
