I fell in love with the wonderful markets, and here we are at the Saumur market where early one Saturday morning we went along to have a look. Even though the weather was bitterly cold, we had wrapped up warm and it was a thing not to be missed.
This man was actually making the most fabulous baskets |
There is nothing like wandering around a market and seeing all the wonderful seasonal produce, artisan cheeses, and the pretty flowers and goodies that you just had to fill up your basket.
Would not be hard to get your five fruit and vegetables here |
Le fromage anyone? |
I hope you are all having a wonderful week
Hugs
Carolyn
Dearest Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteYou made me mouth water! Those huge celeriac roots and the nougat + flowers. What a lovely sight. That, we miss here. It is so European. Sorry for the people vending when it is bitterly cold because they stand still and that makes them more miserable than a passer-by who's walking.
Glad you enjoyed this special cultural experience.
Love to you,
Mariette
Dear Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteI do really understand you! This market is such a wonderful market and the pictures are great! Thanks for sharing with us! I love to visit such nice markets as well! It is always so nice to walk along.....
Have a happy week,
love and hugs

ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, Carolyn.

Indeed my friend, there is NOTHING like the energy and visual delight of an open-air market in France! When I lived there, I literally would eat my way to school every morning!!!!!! Good thing I had to walk about 2 miles every day or else I would have had some weight issues! Instead, I couldn't keep the weight ON since I had no transportation other than an occasional bus!
ReplyDeleteLOVELY FOR THIS THURSDAY! Anita
What a fabulous market!! Brings back memories of when I lived in Portugal and Spain!
ReplyDeleteThe weekend is almost upon us! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!! I'm getting ready for my flea!!!!

Piace anche a me andare al mercato, è un momendo diverso dalle solite giornate! buona serata...ciao
ReplyDeleteCarolyn,
ReplyDeleteNothing better than an outdoor market with fresh flowers and produce. I enjoy supporting our local farmers and the taste of fresh organic produce can't be beat. Some of the markets prepare food-to-go and it's heavenly! ..just strolling along eating and shopping. What could be better than that!!

I love markets, too - thank you for taking us along! And I didn't know that Saumur was the birthplace of Coco Ch. - so I learnt some new things while reading your blog and "travelling with you" :o)
Warm Austrian spring-hugs,
