We have all seen photos of magnificent Chateaux and I know I have always wondered what it would be like to stay in such a luxurious place.
Well we did just this, when we visited the beautiful Loire Valley
when we were in France and stayed at the magnificent Chateau Bouvet
Ladubay, which is near Saumur.
It was January so the weather was wintery, but very lovely.
Our Opal rental car, on the left |
We spent a few days staying here and Monsieur Bruno was an excellent host serving up a great breakfast every morning and was able to recommend some wonderful Restaurants where we could dine. He also encouraged us to try and speak French whenever we could, and he spoke to us in French and I am sure if we stayed longer we could have got better.
Le petit dejeuner |
I remember him telling us about his neuf moutons (nine sheep) that he was very worried about, as they were poorly and he needed to call in the vet to look after them.
Agathe Chambre and bathroom |
When you make a reservation, you will be able to chose between a few rooms.
We chose the Agathe Room which has a huge bedroom, large bathroom and then a little sitting room and a door which led to the L'Orangerie (conservatory)
Life was elegant here and we loved seeing all the beautiful Antique treasures and marvellous Artwork, the graceful, sweeping staircase and the glistening chandeliers. It truly was a memorable place to stay.
I hope that you are having a happy week
Hugs
Carolyn

Dearest Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteThat must have been a lovely experience for both of us. I do recognize so many of your words; including the Opel rental car. Funny as that brand is never seen here in the USA. Don't know about Australia...
In my, southernmost, Province of Limburg there are lots of those old Château hotels and restaurants.
Have a wonderful day!
Love,
Mariette

What a wonderful place to stay. Reminds me of when we went to Sri Lanka and stayed on the tea plantation where we were given 6 rooms to choose from in the bungalow we stayed at. So different from staying at a hotel chain. So much better. :) Best wishes, Tammy

ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic place to stay. Would love to do this!
Lovely place to enjoy a stay.
So glad I could stop by your blog and see the neat stay you were able to enjoy.
I think the ceiling with the chandelier is gorgeous and I'm going to TRY really hard to copy something similar in my master bedroom. Hope hope. It may take me a decade, but will give it a try.
God bless you, my friend and may you have a delightful day and as the week-end approaches, may we have a great time,

Oh, and THIS post is so full of beauty in the style I love BEST! Oh Carolyn, how wonderful that you have the ocean near you; we used to live in California on the west coast and then in Boston, Massachusetts, RIGHT ON THE SHORE. But now we are in the midwest with no ocean, but many gorgeous lakes. The sea is calming to me and I just long to hear only the waves.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU FOR VISITING MY SWEET FRIEND! Anita
