Christmas 2009!
How was your Christmas?
I hope that your stockings were full of some lovely gifts and all your wishes came true.
Can't believe it is over for another year!
I had a lovely Christmas with my family and must have been a good girl as these are some of the beautiful gifts my family gave me ~ I was very spoilt.
We had a wonderful Christmas and we did not have the usual turkey or ham, this year.
Instead the kids wanted a Japanese luncheon - we had a starter of scallops and then tuna seared with toasted sesame seeds and salads. All very nice and sat out on the deck and enjoyed the beautiful sunny day and the view. We did take some photos, but the Internet is playing up and my husband sent the photos from his computer downstairs, about an hour ago, so do not know where they went. Then for dinner we had a French style dinner - terrines, pate, cheeses, and salads and macaroons and Champagne, so all very nice and simple.
Of all the days for the dishwasher to stop working! ... Christmas Day should not have been the day. It seemed to have a fault - F7 to be correct, so it was out with the teatowels and chatting as we washed and dried the dishes.
I hope that you had a very happy Christmas and now some time to relax and enjoy the break if you are lucky enough to have some time off.
Have a great week and not long now until we say goodbye to 2009!
Hugs
Carolyn

ReplyDelete~Happy New Year! ~Melissa :)
Hi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful Christmas dinner. So exotic and fun. Glad you are well, but sorry about the sick dishwasher. Those things pick the worst times to act up!
Happy New Year,
Judy
My dear Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas dinner sounds just wonderful! We had a ham dinner on Christmas eve and then had a buffet~type on Christmas day with all of the goodies you could imagine! Summer sausage, cheeses, dips, desserts, ....etc....! It was so yummy, nice and the greatest gift of all...
The whole family was together for both days!! We spent our Christmas surrounded by the people we love so dearly!
May the New Year find you with many blessings, my sweet friend!

ReplyDeleteWhat lovely gifts! The mirror is beautiful!
Fab new header too!

Merry Christmas! I am glad to hear that you have had a lovely Christmas with your family! I wash just thinking to myself that I wonder what it's like to live in the southern hemisphere during Christmastime with the sunny weather...I grew up in snowy mountains with White Christmases each year! Then I remembered...LOL! I live in So California where it's not so bad...about as close to a Southern Hemisphere Christmas as you can get in the continental US! LOL! I'm sure it's lovely this time of year for you. Happy 2010!
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas meals were just as different as ours. We are in love with Japanese food now. Sounds wonderful. You certainly received some fantastic gifts. Lovely things! I asked for and received a new printer with scanner. Woohoo! Wishing you all the best for today and every day, :) Tammy

Oh, hey Carolyn... So you changed your header picture. Pretty one :) Vintage-feel. And the music note! Love it so much! Tickle me to play the piano again...
ReplyDeleteChristmas was a bit sad. We had a phone call at night. My grandpa was rushed to hospital due to heart-attack. Total chaos it was :(
All in all, he's a lot better now. Thus we can spend a peaceful new year I guess :)
Best wishes to you too...
Carolyn you must have been good. Lovely gifts!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a superb idea for lunch and then tea- right up my aleey and my favourites as well - I love Japanese food and adore french! mmm
Ah- there is something to be said for the teatowel talk. I think it is a lost art.

Thank you Melissa and wishing you a happy New Year too!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to coming over to visit my friends.
Hi Judy,
Yes, it was a lovely Christmas dinner and very stress free, especially with the heat we are having over here.
Happy New Year!
Hi Christina,
Your Christmas day sounds wonderful too, spending it with your family.
And oh! .... eating so much.
We have been for walks every morning to work off all the food.
Thanks Marsha, yes, I love all my gifts the mirror is for our bedroom and we have paid for another but they only had one, so will go back to get the other.
Hi TattingChic,
The weather is beautiful over here and we have been eating most of our meals out on the deck in under the umbrella. It is often too warm to have turkey, which we often do anyway, but ham and cold food is much nicer.
Hi Tammy,
We love Japanese food too and will normally eat it at least once a week. It is so healthy and good for you.
How neat that you got a scanner/printer, you will love it.
I enjoy ours and use it a lot.
Thank you Karen, dear friend and many thanks for your Christmas card, it just arrived this morning so that was kind of you. Happy New Year.
So lovely to have a visit from you Rose, and glad that you had a good time away with your Mama.
Sometimes I think that it is good to leave the computer alone for a while. My kids are always telling me I spend so much time here!
All the best for 2010, dear friend.
Thank you very much Jessica and wishing you and your family a happy New Year.
Thank you Dustjacket and I am so looking forward to coming to visit you again. Happy New Year.
Oh so sorry Fe, to hear about your Grandpa, and wishing him a speedy recovery and I hope that your New Year ahead will be lovely for you.
Hi Suzi,
Yes, the weather was perfect for Christmas but we have had slight drizzle and I think it may be going to be damp for New Years.
You can't beat talking over doing the dishes and it is a lost art.
Wishing you all the best for 2010.
Thank you Jodie and I am looking forward to coming over to visit my sweet blog friends. Happy New Year!
Thank you Diane and Happy New Year to you. Lasanga and garlic bread would be a good meal too.
Hi Jo,
I was a lucky girl and the pink and white stripe is actually a Pierre Cardin bath robe, which my husband bought me. The shop is called Harrowset Hall and that is where the mirror came from, it is one of my favourite shops.
Dear Maria Cecilia,
Thank you so much for visiting me today ~ it has been delightful finding you and your beautiful blog and I look forward to seeing you in the new year.
Happy New Year.
Hugs
Carolyn

I did have a lovely Christmas, thank you very much! Your non-traditional meals sounds so wonderful (I'm not a big fan of ham, but I made one anyway...it did make for some very delicious potato soup the next day though)!
