I love Vintage clothing. It is wonderful that we are seeing a resurgence of this fabulous clothing. None of the cheap and shoddily made clothing that we see, so much of today.
I enjoyed looking at some fashion photography of Norman Parkinson and Terence Donovan, who worked for Vogue from the 1950's to the 1960's.
Fabulous to see this fashion through the photographers lens and this Haute Couture Fashion is a work of Art and each image has the quality of telling a story.

1959 Battersea Funfair
Don't you love the sweet little girl with the frilly knickers?
And here is old Aunt Hyacinth with her fur stole, brooch and hat adorned with flowers,
just to keep up with the vintage look.
Aunt is available for purchase at my website if you are interested.
It is almost the weekend and I just want to wish you all a very happy weekend
Hugs
Carolyn

Funny, I was just thinking this morning (and praying to God) for the perfect skirt that looked just like the one in the first photo. You know...ballerina-ish with that whimsical, poofy, light cloth...but a lot shorter above the knee than that one.
ReplyDeletePerhaps this is a sign!!!! I'm going to the mall today, maybe my skirt is already waiting for me there!!!!!!!! Thank yoooouuuuu!!!!!
These clothes are beautiful. They are all a work of art. Aunt Hyacinth is a classy lady too, does she enjoy the runway shows, LOL!
ReplyDeletej'aime aussi!

Its So Very Cheri
Hi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteLoved the vintage fashion photographs (very Grace Kelly/Audry Hepburn-ish!). Aunt Hyacinth is the most stunning of them all, of course ... destined to be a fashion icon for the ages!
Bye for now,
Bill
Hi Charity,
ReplyDeleteHow interesting and I really hope that you found a skirt you liked at the shops.
Hi Sares,
I am sure Aunt Hyacinth would love to be at the Runway shows, I know her maker would.
Merci Manon,
I learned French back in High School and I would so like to do some more study as it is a wonderful language.
Hi Faith,
I am often in my artist work clothes too, they are comfortable and easy to wear. I will have to think about a Nutbud bear.
Hi Eliza,
Thank you for visiting my blog today and you are welcome.
Hi Cheri,
Good luck with the knock off party, I look forward to coming for a visit.
Hi Bill,
Back in those days they did have such a look of sophistication and elegance and I do love to see people trying to emulate that today.
Thanks for the kind words of Aunt H.

I love that sweet bear!!! What a wonderful talent you have. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era because I would have so loved dressing in all this beauty. Even in the fifties when the women wore mostly dresses would have been fun for me. My mother had some lovely ones.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the lovely note you left about the garden. Hearing from you is always a bright spot in my life.
Hugs,
June
Thank you June and I can say the same about you.
ReplyDeleteIt is always lovely to hear from you.
My Mother wore lovely dresses back in the 50's and 60's too.
I think I would have loved to live back in that era.
Hugs
Carolyn
Often I wonder which era I come from? I love so many different styles, and will always love wearing vintage. Your BEARS are so lovely!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Thank you so much Sixpence and lovely to have you come and visit.
ReplyDeleteI think the excitement of all the glamour of that era, made it seem very appealing and must have been lovely times.
Hugs
Carolyn
