Paris ~ the romantic City
In 2007, I was so lucky as my husband took me to Paris for my birthday.
It was a place that I have always wanted to visit and so my dream came true.
I thought I would share a few of our photos on my blog with you.
We had the greatest time and I loved Paris so much.
Here are the usual landmark photos, The Arch de Triomphe, Eiffle Tower and the Louvre Museum.
Paris was a wonderful City and we did a lot of walking around the shops and streets, climbed 600 steps up the Eiffle Tower and did the tour around the City in a double decker bus.
We rented a little apartment, on the second floor and the address was 13 Rue de Poncelet, which was near to the Arch de Triomphe.
It was such a lively street all hours of the day and I am sure that the French people do not sleep.
We had a fruit stall, cheese shop, fish shop and wine shop, all down below us, so the smells in the foyer of the apartment was interesting.
The French food was amazing - the pate, French bread, croissants and the wonderful delis, you could just stare like a small child in a candy store.
I just loved Paris walking along the Champs Elysee and seeing the fashion shops and the very old buildings everywhere you look.
Everytime you opened the old shutters over the window, in our apartment - flakes of the paint would fall off into the streets below.
We were able to make use of our 3rd and 4th form French classes, comes back after all those years.

great post i can truly undersatand how you feel
ReplyDeleteWell, I'd be lost under the Eiffel Tower Carolyn because French was not my chosen subject. I think I got a miserable mark lke 14% with Mr D F. It is a beautiful city though and what a wonderful husband to think of a romantic trip for your birthday. I had a wonderful get together for my 5oth and a trip to Sydney which wasn't as good as I hoped. I fell down stairs in the dark and sprained my ankle so spent it all on crutches - stranded haha. A month later I was diagnosed with the big C... last year I'd lost my job and was retraining and so 52 will be the birthday to celebrate I'm sure!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sean and Karen.
ReplyDeleteYes, I remember you telling me about your sprained ankle and then the loss of job and the big C.
I wish for good things for you this year Karen.

Carolyn, I'm so impressed by your trip to Paris. A city I love in my heart but have never visited. I hope to of course see Paris before I die, I think everyone has to see Paris in their lifetime. What an extraordinary birthday gift your husband gave you, so wonderful! I like that you stayed in a real Paris neighbourhood during your stay, and saw the real Paris. Amazing to think that people live their whole lives in that beautiful city, and their lives must be so stylish, so interesting, surrounded by all that good food, wine, fashion, and ambience. Thanks so much for posting these photos...
ReplyDeleteOh Carolyn...you are a lucky girl! Such beautiful photos...I can only imagine how lovely it is in person. It looks and sounds so romantic. I'm so happy you were able to fulfill a dream.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week ahead!
Hugs, Nancy
Yes the French people are so stylish, elegant and tres chic.
ReplyDeleteIt was a dream of mine to go there and I was so happy to see for myself how really beautiful Paris really is.
You hear so many people talk about it but to go and see the fashion, beautiful buildings, everything is so old,the streets, parks and the smells and taste of the food is amazing.
Thanks Nancy and Lavinia for visiting me.

Beautiful photos! I sooooo love old buildings. When my husband and I were in London many years ago, we decided to take a day trip to Paris. Unfortunately, our train broke down in the Chunnel for about 3 hours, which seriously cut down on our Parisian touring time. It was more of a photo-safari of famous landmarks than anything. In the Louvre, we only had time to make a beeline for the Mona Lisa and then exit. *sigh* Still, a very romantic and beautiful city. Sounds like you had the best time there. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh...you've brought me back into my French life!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely trip you had. I sure enjoyed the photos.
Now I'm craving a chocolate croissant!

PS. It's great to meet new blogging friends like you!
Oh Bella, how very sad that your train broke down in the Chunnel and you lost 3 hours (sigh)
ReplyDeleteThe Louvre was so big and yes we did the quick dash around to see the Mona Lisa, we were there in July at the peak of the holidays along with 10,000's other people from all around the world.
I hope that you will get to go again, for a longer holiday next time.
Thanks Rebecca for visiting and yes it is great to have a new blogging
friend ~ thank you.
