Happy International Women's Day

I hope you are having a lovely week dear friends.

Les Fleurs, pour vous

Today and any other day, we can be grateful  for being a woman and I just want to say how very grateful I am, for having the best blog friends.
There are a few things we need to remember:
Feel free and be yourself
Taking time out for your self is not a luxury but a necessity ~ take 5 minutes to breath deeply and clear your mind.
Pamper yourself and take a relaxing warm bath.

After women, flowers are the most lovely thing God has given the world
~ Christian Dior
Do hope you have a happy day

Homage to Christian Dior

Today I'm bringing you to a beautiful place we stayed in Paris last year.
In a wonderful old Parisian Gothic house, this exceptional guest room with a view of the Eiffel Tower and a lovely private garden.
Here are a few photos to show you around - it was Autumn and the leaves were starting to turn golden

The guest room was beautiful, decorated in a soft pale grey, black and accents of deep red. A bowl of fruit was waiting for us on the desk and macarons on the bedside table, if we were hungry

All around the room were wonderful old black and white pictures of Mr Christian Dior which I found fascinating
Loved looking out the window and seeing all the gorgeous golden  leaves
You can just make out the top of the Eiffel tower through the trees
Lastly the twinkly tower by night ... it was special lying in bed and looking out at the lights

It was hard to pack up when it was time to leave and certainly a very memorable place to stay in Paris
Enjoy your weekend dear friends
hugs

The Dior plaque

I have walked past these plaques on a building in Auckland many times and have always wondered what Dior was doing here in our City, so far away from Paris.
So I did a little research and found that the Kingston building was the heart of ~ El Jay fashion house established by Gus Fisher.
Mr Fisher, who passed away in 2010, would travel to Paris and bring back the latest designs and fabrics creating elegant Pret A Porter garments.
He was proud to hold a license deal with Christian Dior manufacturing and selling Dior originals in New Zealand.

Christian Dior was quoted saying, "We were emerging from the period of war, of uniforms of women-soldiers built like boxers.
I drew women - flowers, soft shoulders, fine waists like liana and wide skirts like corolla

Happiness is the secret to all beauty.
There is no beauty without happiness
~ Christian Dior

Hope that you are having a lovely week - almost time, to wish you a happy weekend
