Staying home!
Hello dear friends, just wanted to say that even though I have not been blogging much, you have all been very much in my thoughts.
So sad what is going on all around the world and really hope that they can get this under control and eradicate it.
Here we have completed week 1 of the lockdown and must say how strange it has all been.
The Island is very quiet and often all you can hear is the bus driving by, with not a soul on it, most of the time. A lot of people are out walking to get some exercise and we have been lucky as the weather has been sunny and bright.
Wearing disposable gloves, and having to queue to get into the supermarket, and having the 2 metre gap between the next person. We are slowly trying to get used to the new normal, in these unsettling times.
Staying at home is making me think so much about the house, and making it cosy now that Autumn is here and days will soon get cooler. We have been working on our daughters bedroom and a good time to be doing that. My husband is able to work from home, which he is actually enjoying not having to commute over on the ferry.
Even our pets are not enjoying this time and feel unsettled. We walk Bluebell around the block as sadly the beach where she normally goes to play with her puppy friends, is out of bounds.
Lucky enough to catch the sun rise on our early morning walk a few weeks back, so miss this.
Daylight saving started this weekend, so that takes a little adjusting to.
Today was bath day for her and we even managed to give her a trim, as she was starting to look a little on the unkempt side.
At the end of the day when this is all over, we will have a greater appreciation for all we have.
Do take care, stay safe and well
hugs
Carolyn

Dearest Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteLet's hope things will be back to normal soon; whatever that will be.
Very strange times indeed and it feels awkward for being out with all the restrictions.
We stay put as much as possible, except for some medical appointments that must go on.
Biking is another thing you can do... not much traffic!
Yes, Bluebell no doubt misses her puppy friends as pets also socialize.
Hugs,
Mariette
Many thanks Mariette and I hope that you and Pieter are staying well and safe. Yes, they are strange times.
DeleteI would be riding my bike but sadly it has a flat tyre so need to wait until it can be fixed.
Hugs

Hello, week three of self-isolation for us. We've been lucky to get food deliveries two weeks out of the three where lots of people are still struggling to find delivery slots. We walk a lot, exercise at home if we don't walk, reading, sorting photographs into albums (years since we did that) and spending lots of time on social media both talking to friends and reading blogs. Thank you for your blog, keep well and safe.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Barbara and good that you are able to get food deliveries. It is a big wait here, so my husband has ventured out with his disposable gloves to buy groceries. Interesting talking to friends and doing all those things that we have never got around to getting done. It is like that here too.
DeleteStay safe and well and thanks for your kind visit.

Lovely to see a post from you and to know you are all ok in the lock down. Our pets can't understand why we are home so much! We haven't had a chance to do many jobs around the house in the past 2 years so there is plenty to do at the moment. We too have had lots of sunshine, it's going to feel very different when it is wet and miserable. Take care and stay safe. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Sarah and so lovely to hear from you again.
ReplyDeleteHope you and your family and sweet doggie and cat are safe and well. Yes, a good time to get around to doing many things about the house, we hope to also.
Keep well and safe

My dear friend Carolyn, I was thinking about you today so I thought I’d pop on by to say hello and see how you were doing. Hope you are well. It’s been a bit of an adjustment getting use to the new normal but it’s so important to do our part and stay home. These are certainly strange times we are living in but hopefully soon it will all be behind us. Please stay safe. Miss you.
ReplyDelete❤️Ana
Thank you dear Ana, and so lovely to hear from you.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is strange times, but hopefully won't be too long and we will all come out of this soon. We go to Level 2 tomorrow, so a few more chances to get out and do a little more.
Take care and stay well Carolyn x
Dearest Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteI thought to myself, I will virtually jump over to New Zealand and see if there is any news from you and if you are healthy. I was very happy to read from you again, even if your message is from April. Hopefully you and your loved ones are still fine.
We are doing well and life in our country is gradually returning to normal - for now. Currently only 810 people in Austria suffer from Covid-19. It will be seen how the contagion rate will develop as the exit restrictions are relaxed. I am so glad that I don't live in the city and that I can stay here in our garden and in nature. Two of our planned trips had to be canceled (Morocco and Hungary) - but interestingly, that doesn't bother me. I enjoy my life very much. We have done some gardening projects, go on bike trips and walks, have already met with friends and do home training several days a week. The only problem was that we couldn't visit my mother (94 years old) in the nursing home for 8 weeks - we only made calls. But in the meantime we could visit her again.
Stay safe!
Hugs

Thank you dear Traude, and appreciate your kind visit.
DeleteMust go and visit with you. xo
Hello. Has been awhile since I dropped by your blog. This really is a different time to be living. I have done my best to social distance and wear a mask when in a store. Gloves as well. While at home I have fresh air coming inside and enjoying the Spring weather before our Summer comes. Praying the virus goes dies. There is much disagreement as to wearing a mask or not. I chose to. Blessings, d
ReplyDeleteHello Deanna, yes, very strange times we are living in and will be so good when this is all over with. Stay well xo
ReplyDeleteHello dear friend,
ReplyDeleteYou have been on my mind and wanted to drop a note to let you know I have been thinking of you and hope you are well.
blessings,
Penny
Dearest Carolyn,
ReplyDeletethank you for your nice blog visit! I am very happy that you and your loved ones are healthy and that Bluebell has kept you fit ;-) In the meantime, I can visit my mother in the nursing home again (after an eight-week break) - it is all still a bit complicated due to the safety precautions, but better than nothing. And I can do gymnastics in my Mrs. Sporty Club again. (My husband and I have also been doing gymnastics at home for the past few weeks.) So life is actually becoming more normal. Let us hope that the last restrictions will also drop soon - but also that some things that were bad "before Corona" will no longer be the same as before... (pollution for example)
Hugs and stay safe,
Traude

Pasa el tiempo y hay que seguir con el cuidado. La pandemia no se detiene, queda esperar la vacuna y seguir con los mayores cuidados. Abrazos.
