Tis the season

Hope your Christmas celebration was lovely.

A sprig of Rosemary, makes a great napkin holder

I find just been with my family, is the best gift of all and we certainly had a wonderful time. So glad that it comes around only once a year, as I seem to have eaten more than my share of delicious food, but some lovely walks help to overcome this.
Many thanks for the kind Christmas greetings and wishes you left, am so grateful for your friendship

Had meant to post these photos before, but only today found a minute to sit down at the computer and share them.
At this time of the year, there is no better way to usher in the holiday season, to take a walk along the City streets and see some of the gorgeous window displays.
They are enchanting and magical with all the pretty colours and lights

As we are reaching the end of the year, this is a great time to unwind, relax, restore and spend time with family.

I always find December is a time to reflect on our personal journey over the past year and to plan ahead for what we want to do next year.
May love, peace and joy abound.
hugs
Carolyn

  6. I'm glad you had a lovely family Christmas especially when the children are older there are fewer opportunities to spend some quality time together. I love the simple idea of using Rosemary for those napkin rings. It was lovely also to see those wonderful window displays. Wishing you and the family best wishes for 2017. Sarah x

  9. Dearest Carolyn,
So happy for you for having been with family as that is indeed the very, very best of it.
We both never cared for any of the commercial part of Christmas and did so far not participate in the gift giving. We still adhere to the St. Nicholas celebration as we knew it in The Netherlands and I find it a lot more appropriate as it does not distract from the true meaning of Christmas.
We enjoyed being at the Hyatt Regency in Jacksonville, FL for 2 nights to be present at a heavenly A.W. Mozart Mass in the Basilica where members of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra played. For both of us, this has been the most beautiful Mass ever! I did post a photo on my blog, the Basilica looked gorgeous too with all the red poinsettias against the white...
Only a 7 minute walk and we were back in our room, overlooking the river. Calling my Dad in The Netherlands at 2:00 AM our time and 8:00 AM his time. He was in high spirits and we went to sleep, feeling very happy.
Miss the family time for 33 years now, only once we had our foster daughter staying with us... But that's the price of being an immigrant!
Sending you hugs and blessings for a Happy New Year!

  12. Oh boy. The benefits of having Christmas during the summer is you get to walk around and see the sights and burn those calories. Meanwhile, I just keep eating and bundling on the sweaters and getting rounder by the day. Such pretty window displays! Happy new year to you and your family. I hope it's a fantastic one! xoxo
