Thoughts go out to those affected by the earthquake

Thank you so much for your kind emails and notes you left after New Zealand experienced yet another massive earthquake.
The 7.5 quake has left people frightened, with the many aftershocks that are continuing.
Sad that there has been some loss of life and all the damage and destruction, that will take a long time to clean up.
My family and I have been safe - Even though we are a long way from where the epicenter was, Marcel {son} was still awake when the first quake shook at just after midnight and on the ninth floor of an apartment was no fun, he said, as the room was shaking.

The town of Kaikoura has been cut off with a massive slip that is blocking the highway, railway tracks, and people have been evacuated by helicopters to a safe place.  Many tourists flock to the  normally, picturesque coastal town and is the perfect place for marine life encounters, whale watching, coastal walks, and tucking into crayfish and seafood. In the winter time the snow capped mountains are very beautiful.

These sweet cows were stranded after the land crumbles around them leaving them huddled together on a small piece of grassy land.  Hope the farmer will be able to rescue them - have just heard on the radio that they have been rescued

Must be so frightening and thinking of the people that have been affected and hope things will calm down, so life can get back to normal.
Wishing you a lovely week
hugs
Carolyn

  5. Dearest Caroly,
we were traveling again; the internet connections were very bad. And so I did not notice that in New Zealand the earth shook. We just read about the earthquakes in Italy. Fortunately, your family members are all safe!!!

  9. My dear Carolyn, I`m so happy you and your family, were all safe in this tragic happening. Nature is a tough and sometimes very hard master, and so many have been effected by this earthquake . I hope for them they can soon return to a normal life again, and feel so sad for the ones whom lost their lives. Happy you can peacefully watch your beautiful bouquet my friend.
    Hugs, Dorthe

  11. Carolyn, I heard about this earth quake, and was wondering about my dear friend in New Zealand. So glad that you weren't hit by it. That must have been scary for your son to have felt the quake in his apartment at the time. I'm happy that sweet cow family was rescued. :)

Take care, and thinking of you today.

  16. Experiencing an heartquake must be very horrible, dear Carolyn!
We had a very similar earthquakes even here in Italy, many ancient villages were totally destroyed! Personally at my place in Rome I slightly fell it, but it was still impressive and pretty scaring!
All we can do is praying for the poor victims, hoping thaey can soon retutn to a normal life...

  23. Dear Carolyn, I’m so happy to know you and your family are safe. Our hearts go out to everyone who was caught up in this. Earthquakes are such terrifying things. We know because we experienced one on holiday in Greece a few years back. As we were driven to our hotel on the tour bus, the guide pointed out some large dips and gullies in the landscape saying they were caused by an earthquake which happened many years before. Two days later, we were to experience a quake that measured 7.6 on the Richter scale. We and everyone else in the hotel were unharmed although the same could not be said for the hotel or surrounding buildings. The death toll was very slight (thank God), but it left us with a health respect for the world we all live on. Hugs Barbara
