The Year of the Monkey

Chinese New Year 8th February,  celebrates the  Chinese Zodiac and 2016 will celebrate the year of the monkey.
Wishing all my Chinese friends a wonderful festive season and New Year ahead

I looked into the history about the Lantern Festival and it  has been part of Chinese New Year celebrations since the Han Dynasty (206BC - 221 AD)

A worker makes lanterns at a factory in China -  love the brightness of the red and gold and they must look lovely with the light shinning behind in the dark of night.

Sydney Opera House is lit up with red lights, to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
To find out which Chinese zodiac you are, take a look at this chart here and match your birth date.

Have a great week
hugs
Carolyn

  14. Yes, I've known my zodiac sign for many years because of the delightful placemats they use at my favorite Chinese restaurant. The red lanterns are so vibrant and pretty. They must look beautiful at night.

    Happy Valentine's Day, Carolyn.
