Mothers day

Today is a special day, it is Mothers day.
Raising children is one of the most challenging things we will do in life and it is a wonderful adventure and one of the most rewarding things, seeing our babies grow up to be responsible adults and living a good life. I feel honoured and very lucky that I can be their Mother.
It warms my heart to be able to spend precious time with our two beautiful children and to have their love and appreciation shown.

Showered with gifts I felt like a Queen to be given pretty flowers, delectable chocolates that look too pretty to eat and then the gorgeous soaps that I just want breath in the sweet scent

This year is the first, without my dear Mother so I am feeling sad and we miss her and grateful for all her love, care, kindness and for being the most beautiful Mother and Grandmother

To all the beautiful Mothers out there I just want to wish you a happy day
Do the things that make you smile and feel pampered, like rewarding yourself with a manicure, take a bubble bath, or sit down with a cup of tea and your favourite magazine.

Hope you have some special and happy moments today
hugs
Carolyn

  1. I am sorry that your mum isn't here this year my dear. You get reminded of these things on dates and days like this. I thought it was lovely that our kids remembered their mum and that you have done such a great job as their mother - always being there for them no matter how demanding they can be. Love v xxx

Yes I missed my mother today, too, and have been thinking of her a lot through the day. But also felt happy for the beautiful flowers my daughter send me ,and the ones my husbond dearly gave me.

  13. Dearest Carolyn,
Today was kind of bittersweet for me as well; first time celebrating a Mother's Day with my Angel Mom.
Dear friend Mariëlle, who lost her Mom only 3 weeks before I lost mine, flew back home yesterday and reached The Netherlands today.
It is rather quiet but we sure had a lovely time together!
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette

  22. Carolyn, your mother will always be in your heart, especially on this special Mother's Day. Your children showered you with such wonderful gifts. The soaps are so pretty, and those chocolates, Yum. All my chickadees were with me this year, so it was a very nice day.

Happy Mother's Day, Carolyn. It's a bit late, but my thoughts are sincere for you today.

    love, ~Sheri

  23. Oh Carolyn,
You are truly blessed to have such loving kids and they are equally as blessed to have such a wonderful and sweet mum. Sounds like you had a wonderful Mother's Day. It is understandable how it was a bit sad, being the first year without your mum but she will always be very much in your hearts and honored on this day. Sending you a big hug.

  25. I'm sure you had mixed emotions on Mother's Day this year, Carolyn. On such a day we do especially think of our mother. She will always be in your thoughts I know. It is indeed a blessing to be a mother and receive love and appreciation and you received some sweet gifts and cards.

  26. Lovely post Carolyn - your gifts are lovely.

Mothers are so special and the many memories they give, and the care they show are with us always... as we pass on these special gifts to our children (and grandchildren).

Hope your week is going well.

    All the best Jan

  27. Such beautiful gifts from your children Carolyn! Don't you love being pampered like that once in awhile? You are right about all you said about motherhood. It truly is challenging sometimes, but so worth it. I'm sure you had so many wonderful memories of your mother on Mother's Day, but I suspect you do every day :)
    much love to you...

  28. It sounds like you've had a great Mother's Day.

We celebrate Mother's Day in March here in the UK of course, but I often wish it was in May, the weather is usually much better!

  29. Dearest Carolyn,
Hope you will have a happy birthday; even if these days are kind of bitter sweet. My dear friend Mariëlle who stayed with us for one week, flew back on Saturday. She had her birthday yesterday and also she lost her partner a couple of days before. A tough month as she too lost her Mom about 3 weeks before I lost my Mom. Life goes on no matter what. We only can embrace each other from time to time; knowing that we never go the road alone... Our loved ones have become special Angels in heaven whom we know by name.
    Hugs to you!
    Mariette
