The Queen Mary

A few favourites from my week.

On Monday, the Queen Mary 2 docked in Auckland, sailing, on her worldwide cruise.
A great photo opportunity and can see why she is claimed to be, the most magnificent ocean liner ever built.

I love, how cut hydrangeas I had in a vase, have formed  a root formation and now I will be able to plant this in a pot - do you ever propagate plants this way?

Our home is still currently under renovation. Today I did some more painting.  It has really been too hot, but just ploughed on and hopefully we will get the job finished soon.

Thank you so much for stopping by and hope you are all enjoying your week
A big welcome to new friends to my blog,  I appreciate each and every one of you and grateful for your friendship

hugs
Carolyn

  4. Dear Carolyn,
Oh yes, I think the Queen Mary is a magnificent ocean liner!

You know I used to propagate flowers that way.. It has been so long I cannot remember which ones I did.. You have a very nice root formation going there. I am quite sure it will take hold in the earth.

The weather is warm here. Time to start on the outside projects very soon..
    Enjoy your week..
    fondly,

  8. Good morning sweet Carolyn! The Queen Mary used to be docked in Los Angeles MANY years ago; we used to go to tour it when I was about seven years old! Lovely memories.

Your home is going to be so gorgeous. I hope you will be able to share photos soon?

Enjoy your day sweet friend! Anita

  12. What a beautiful backdrop for photos of the majestic Queen Mary! Hope it's not too hot for painting - at least the paint will dry quickly. Now you have some more
hyacinths to enjoy. My husband sometimes does that, but usually he sticks woody stems in some potting compost and they take root. Have a good week!

  16. Hi Carolyn,

That was a wonderful photo op, and I hope that your house is finished soon. We still have snow on the ground here in Massachusetts, but the temperatures are a bit milder.

    Have a lovely day,

  17. Hi dear,
I love how your flowers rooted... I also do that sometimes,-but never had a hyacinth making roots in my vase- I hope it will grow wonderfully in a new pot.
I can imagine that painting and renovating takes the energy out of you, in such a warm weather, and so hope for you, it will soon cool a bit of,and that the rain will fall in your dry garden, dear Carolyn.

  20. Dearest Carolyn,
It would be a great luxury for traveling with such an ocean liner!
Are those not hydrangeas? Yes we have rooted hydrangeas that way! Lots of them. Hyacinths are grown from bulbs and therefore cannot be rooted...
    Hugs to you,

  31. Hi Carolyn,

The ocean liner looks beautiful. I love the quote written on the blackboard too - it is so inspiring! I am sure your flowers will bloom in full force very soon.

  32. Hi Carolyn,
Oh I just love the ship and all it's majestic details.
Love your hydrangeas and how wonderful they rooted for you. Now you can plant and enjoy even more pretty blooms. Yes, I do try and root plants. My grandmother was really good at this. She would pinch off a set of leaves in the formation of 5 from her roses. Place it in the dirt and before long she had another rose bush. She had the touch I guess because I tried this and it did not work for me. Oh well. I'll keep trying, maybe one day it will work.
    Love the chaulk board quote!

Enjoy the weekend and your home projects.
Have fun. Hugs and Blessings, Celestina Marie

  35. My dearest Carolyn,
oh yes, Queen Mary 2 is a real beauty!
How I would love to go with this luxury liner on a long trip! :o)
I have never heard before that Hydrangeas are propagated in this way - wonderful! This is certainly a lucky omen!
And it's so strange and interesting to read that it's too hot for more painting. Here the winter has returned. It is bitterly cold and windy, and today it has been snowing all day... But I an feel the spring already!!! :o)))
All the best for your continued renovation!
Warm hugs from the other side of the world, Traude

  42. Happy Friday dear Carolyn.;) My dream used to be to take a transatlantic trip on the QE2, the sister liner of QM.;) That was when I lived in the US. I disliked to fly and am still today a very nervous flier, so that seemed like a good option.;) Never got to sail with the ship though, maybe one day.;)
Good luck with your renovations and have a great weekend,
    xoxo
