Happy Birthday!

21 years ago, the 18th of September our sweet baby boy Marcel, was born and how those years seem to have gone so very fast.
We had a wonderful dinner and evening out to celebrate his special day.
Dinning at the Restaurant Clooneys, which won the Cuisine Award 2012, for the best fine dining Restaurant in Auckland.

Sadly though, as we were leaving the restaurant, V (daughter) got a text message saying that one of the Tailors she had done her internship with when doing her degree, had passed away.
Malcom and Brendon were great Mentors to her, sharing some of their wonderful skills and expertise and helping her, to make a beautiful navy bespoke handmade jacket for herself.
Victoria was always baking biscuits and cakes, to take along for their morning tea.
So very sad to hear of Malcom's passing, and came as such a shock,  to her.  Rest in peace.

So this week life has been a little like a roller coaster, happy times and sad.

Tomorrow I am driving down to visit my dear Mother and catching up with family.
With Mum breaking her hip, unfortunately she will not be able to go back into Fraser Manor, the place she called home, where she enjoyed living in a nice room with an ensuite.
We now have to look at more of a hospital type abode for her, so will be going to have a look at some of the homes.
Hard when our loved one get older and they are no longer as mobile and able to get around.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I will be drawing the Book giveaway soon, so there is still time to join, if you are interested.
Have a wonderful day
Hugs
Carolyn

  2. Hi Carolyn,
I'm glad you had a wonderful night to celebrate your sons birthday. I feel for you having to find a place for your mother. It was one... of the hardest days of my life, having to put my Mum into care. She was only there for a matter of days, but still it was awful.

  3. Happy birthday to your son! .)

Sounds like a bit of a roller coaster indeed. I think I may have mentioned that we had to move my father to a home almost a year ago . It's been an adjustment to say the least as he struggled with dementia and related disease. It's a rough time and one that most can't relate to unless they've been through it.

Happy Birthday to your son. How fast the years slip by and they grow up to be wonderful adults. I wish him much success. He is a handsome young man and I know you are so proud of him.
So sorry to hear of your daughter's friend who passed away. So sad. I will say a prayer of comfort for all.

Also saying prayers for your mum and the finding of her new place. I know how difficult this can be. I had the same with my mother. Enjoy your visit with her.

  19. Dearest Carolyn,

Life is full of those happy and sad moments. These emotions take their turn at random and unannounced too. For your daughter it makes big impact, considering her age. But as we all age, we lost many a loved one or friend along the road of life.
So glad that at least you shared a happy dinner with your son before sad tidings changed the feelings for all. Congratulations again. Yes, I read it in your blog but probably didn't pay attention to the year... Sorry for that.
Hope your Mum will be okay and accepting her major changes in life. It is never easy.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  20. Dearest Carolyn,
So sorry for my belated comment, my dear friend. Happy Birthday to your great son, he looks so gorgeous♡♡♡
I am sorry about sad news for your daughter! Oh, life is always ups and downs, isn't it☆☆☆
My father (my only immediate family) is suffering from dementia and in the old people's home. My late brother and me helped each other for his care. My mom died from cancer 12 years ago. I know it must be hard for you to see your mom suffer, hoping you can find the best place for her.
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
