Strawberries
Delicious
Red
Ripe
Strawberries are in season here and I can't get enough of these ~ the smell is intoxicating and I love the bright red, like a fire engine colour. The first of the season always taste the best.

I love strawberries! When I was a child, I couldn't eat too many of them as I would break out in hives, but not so anymore!
ReplyDeleteI make "sandwiches" with sliced strawberries, low-fat cream cheese and sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the stawberries :) yumm
xxoo
Marsha
Hi Marsha,
ReplyDeleteI used to get hives too, when I was a child, but I am happy now I have grown out of this.
Have never had a strawberry sandwich, I just had a tomato sandwich for my lunch.

Dearest Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteWe did just discuss it this week that here in the US it is incredible that we get fresh strawberries year round. I LOVE them and the new varieties are so much better for transport and for storage. My Dad used to grow them when I was little but they were very perishable.
You enjoy them girl; there is nothing more yummy. Probably since you're on an island the import is tough for year-round availability. We get lots of high quality berries from Chile and Peru. California is the strawberry capital of the world they call it... so we're lucky here.
Love to you,
Mariette
Hi Carolyn, I love strawberries too and always feel sorry for the people who are allergetic to them. It's great that you don't get hives anymore and can enjoy these wonderful fruits.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week :-)!
Hugs,
Julia
I totally agree, nothing beats the distinct red color of strawberries. Fabulous!

I love this! We are into pumpkins and tangerines and you are embracing red fruits. I agree the smell of strawberries is evocative and as alluring, I think, as the smell of fresh coffee beans.

ReplyDeleteOne summer when my husband and I lived in California there was an older man who lived around the corner. He grew strawberries and sold them in front of his house. These were the best berries and sweet strawberry memory I've had to date. We didn't get hives, but should have!!!

ReplyDeleteDear Carolyn
ReplyDeleteIsn't this just such a funny little planet we live on - producing strawberries throughout the year (it seems) you've just got to be in the right place when they appear. Here we get them from February 'till mid-April and in Denmark (where I come from) they appear June-July. I LOVE strawberries - they remind me of my beloved grandfather - he used to produce endless buckets full of delicious strawberries from his magical little garden. Oh do enjoy it whilst it last - I would simply love the kind of temperatures you're having at the moment.
Much love
from Joan
these strawberries looking delicious.
ReplyDeleteyou have a lovely blog
Love the strawberries and your pictures. I wish we could still have them here!
ReplyDeleteYum! We've already been through the strawberry season here. We get the best ones from Egypt -- the cost is much cheaper than the ones they bring from the States.
ReplyDelete111 is right -- I was born in 66 and turned 45 this year. :)
Hope you have a great weekend. Tammy
