White Camellia

As my Camellia bushes keep blooming in the garden, I keep cutting them and bringing them indoors.
It is so lovely to have fresh flowers in the house and only wish they would flower all year.

This was one of Coco Chanel's favourite flower, and indeed one of her signature symbols.

How many cares one loses, when one decides not to be something but to be someone ~ Coco Chanel

Shane of roseslaceandbrocante.blogspot.com asked me to write a post for her on her blog. Unfortunately, the other day she tripped and fell and broke one wrist and sprained the other. It would be lovely if you have a spare moment and are able to go and visit her and say hello and send her some get well wishes.

I hope that you are enjoying the weekend and tomorrow I will share with you, some photos of the opening of the Rugby World Cup.
Hugs
Carolyn

  8. Good morning beautiful Carolyn....oh, school has taken a toll on my presence in Blogland; I see I missed this post. But what a lovely flower this is to remind me of the gentle things in life that give me peace, and of FRIENDS that are like flowers.

PEACE TO YOU DEAREST ONE! Anita

  9. Lovely. DId you know that the camellia is the state flower of Alabama? We will see them when the weather is cooler. Yours is perfect and I enjoyed the quote by Mme. Chanel!

I will go visit Shane right now and send her a hug.

  15. Oh your camellia is beautiful -- it almost doesn't look real. Hope your friend is healing well after her bad fall. Wish I could "chase behind" Summer into your side of the world. As much as I love Autumn, I would be nice to go south and miss Winter all together.

  16. My goodness both arms. Sending many healing vibes Shane's way.
I love your white Camellia, Carolyn. So fresh and happy. My white anemones are the only white flowers left, Fall is arriving. As a matter of fact there is a lot of thunder and lighting this very moment around my home, I think Summer is saying good bye
Have a sweet Sunday my dear friend xxxx

  18. I wish we could grow camellias here. We used to get them in but the nursery had to destroy them for sudden oak death years ago and we've not gotten them since then.

  22. Hi Carolyn! How are you? :)

I always seem to see Camellias when I come over here on your blog! Camellias and Chanel N 5 perfume bottles! I think it's safe to say then, that you're Coco Chanel's biggest fan/ she's your utmost icon! :) I can see that clearly! :)

I hope that you're doing well dear.

    xx

  23. Hi Carolyn,
Your Camellia in white is gorgeous. It is lovely to have fresh flowers in the house.
So sorry that Shane broke and sprained her wrists. I will go over and wish her well next.

So sweet of you to do a post for her. You are so kind and helpful and I know it must have meant a lot to her for your help.

  24. Oh, ouch!! your poor, poor friend! I can't imagine not being able to use either hand! It was annoying enough not to use my left when I had surgery last fall....and the other back in '05 when I had surgery on that one.... not fun at all. How ever will she manage?

  25. For someone who uses her hands as much as Shane, this accident has been a terrible blow. Your friendship and sweet post was a generous act.

I am glad that I found you. I see that Virginia has already told you about our connection to Camelias here in Alabama. We have about 20 in our yard and they will begin to bloom in December as the weather turns cooler.

    Bises,
    Genie
