National Jandal Day
What joy that this Friday is National Jandal Day, a legitimate reason to get your jandals out and support Surf Lifesaving, New Zealand.
They do such a wonderful job keeping our beaches safe, especially some of the wild West Coast beaches, that are dangerous with big surf and rips.
Get on your jandals and say hello to Summer!
The only problem is.... today the weather has turned cold and wet.
photo ~ google.
I love to wear jandals around the house ~ do you like to wear this casual, comfortable form of footwear?
Have a happy weekend
Hugs
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn, hope you are doing better, just know about your health problem.
ReplyDeleteI love wearing jandals (hawaianas), in fact I have many of them in different colours, I would say more than 10.
I didn´t know you were from New Zeland, I was there in Nov. 2006, in Lake Taupo most of the time, and I jumped from the Sky Tower, a great experience!!!
You live in a wonderful country. The south part of our country is pretty much like NZ, and the weather is almost the same.
Muchos cariños
María Cecilia
p.s. loved your David Austin rose!!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE flip-flops! Have a closet full of them! That's all I live in during the warm months!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Marsha
My gracious.... you really do live on the other side of the world from me!! Sandals? Today?? Ooh, methinks not!! It's wellies and scarves here!!
ReplyDeleteJandals! Hahahaha, I've never heard that term before, but I love it! Happy Jandal Day. Hope the weather turns warmer and brighter for you. Happy surfing!
ReplyDeleteHi Maria,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your visit.
You are one game Lady, jumping from the Sky Tower, I have only ever being dining at the Orbit Restaurant and have watched people leaping off!
How neat that you were over here in 2006. How neat that you have 10 pair of Havana's.
Hi Marsha,
They are so comfortable and great for wearing in the Summertime.
Lovely to hear from you.
Hi Pamela,
Wellies and scarfs are lovely too to keep you cosy and dry.
thanks for your visit.
Thanks Bella, you have not heard of jandals? Over in Australia they call them flip flops or thongs and I see Marsha called them flip flops.
Hugs
Carolyn
I have never heard that term before..Jandals..so neat. You are getting out your Jandals and I am mucking about in the snow with snow boots...I love it!
ReplyDeleteOh, LOL! I have never heard of flip-flops being called Jandals. Aside from flip-flops we also call those things thongs, but too many embarrassing misunderstandings can happen when you say thongs. For instance, say a young girl's boyfriend gave her some flip-flops for her birthday and she comes home and tells her mom that her new boyfriend gave her some thongs (you know the "other" meaning for "thong", right?) and she could get in a LOT of trouble from her mom until she SHOWS her the aforementioned "thongs" (which are really flip-flops).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, Jandals must be a colloquial term for our Aussie friends!
I've never heard then called this before! Here in the states they're called flip flops. When I was little they were called thongs. I don't know why! I wonder what names they have in other countries? Happy Jandal Day and enjoy your Summer as we head toward a cold wet Winter!
ReplyDeleteExcellent conceives these footwears, a great good to you that spread it!
ReplyDeletestrange world...... to Venice tall water today...... where alive you summer!
Kisses
Rosarita
I love you
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visits and kind words
Love Jeanne♥
I've never heard the term jandals before, but ok, I like it. Hope your weather warms up soon. Lucky you, just starting summer. We are starting winter and it is cold today. I got my warm and fuzzy slipper socks on.
ReplyDeleteYou are in New Zealand, it is so beautiful over there. Were you anywhere near where they filmed Lord of the Rings? My daughter and I love those movies. We even got to meet Billy Boyd who played Pippen (the hobbit) in the movie when he was here in Pittsburgh Pa a few years ago.
Hope you are feeling good, any news yet?
Have a great weekend!!
Hihi, in Austria we are getting out our boots and warm coats! It has been a very warm November (for Austria), nearly no fog, lots of sunny days, but now winter is comming. It is such a nice feeling that there are places on earth were people get out their jandals! Hugs, Traude
ReplyDeleteWell I've never heard them called jandals before, but I love them and have a fave pair every year. I am still wearing mine to pick up the mail and it is only 20 degrees here now. It's time to put them away for next summer. I loved learning more about this wonderful country you live in.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
June
What a fabulous idea for a great cause! This should be a worldwide event (although I guess at the moment, it might be a bit too cold for the rest of the world). I rarely wear them except for the beach and around the house, but they're sooo comfortable! Hope you're having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Jandal day!!! I will wear mine with pride.

Hi Koralee,
ReplyDeleteWe really do live in opposites ends of the earth, don't we.
The snow must be wonderful.
Hi TattingChic,
Yes, how easy it would be to mix the two different thongs up!
Jandals is actually a NZ term.
Hi Sares,
Interesting to hear the different terms that pertain to other Countries, for clothing and things.
Thanks for your visit.
Hi Rosarita,
Many thanks for your visit today.
Venice must be such a beautiful place and one day I would like to visit there.
Lovely to have your visit Jeanne, thank you.
Hi Carol,
Most of the Lord of the Rings was shot down the South Island but where Bilbo Baggins, Hobbiton house which is located at Matamata, is not far from my old family home and we pass through there quite often.
How neat that you got to meet Billy Boyd.
I have not heard any news yet, but I am feeling ok, thanks.
Hi Traude,
I can only imagine how beautiful it must be in your parts with all the snow. Stay warm.
Thanks for visiting June, always great to hear from you.
I enjoy hearing what is going on in your part of the world too.
Thank you Haute-Shopper for your visit. Yes, probably too cold in your parts to be wearing them.
It is a fabulous idea, for a great cause.
Hi Suzi,
Good on you! a good Kiwi Girl.

Hi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteI also call them flip flops for the sound that they make as you walk. I LOVE wearing them all summer. They also make nice summer indoor wear to cushion your feet.
I wish you all a wonderful and safe summer! *ah, the warmth of the summer sun on ones face and toes! :)
xo,
Mary
p.s.
the Leg-Lamp site at my blog is run by a business friends husband in Naperville IL. they are very wonderful.
Jandals... ah yes, I love flip-flops ;). So wonderful and the photos make me feel like it's not winter here. Have a wonderful Jandal Day! And do support your life guards - I used to be one!

Thank you Melissa, for visiting my blog today ~ I like the black and white jandals as they have the outline of NZ on them.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
I will go back and visit their site tomorrow, as I should be cooking dinner. Thanks for that, always good to find something new and the cookie cutters sound cute. Ooh la la!
Hi Peter,
How neat that you used to be a life guard, they do such a great service.
Many thanks for visiting me today.
Hi Rosemary,
It is a NZ term, so that is probably why you have not heard of them. I loved seeing all your decorations around your home, very beautiful.

Carolyn

Jandals? First time I've heard of them being called that, before! I knew they were flip flops or sandals! :)
ReplyDeleteEverybody over here always wears those! But I always lose mine! So I end up barefoot! :)
Hi Charity,
ReplyDeleteBarefoot is good too, I enjoy walking along the sand at the beach.

Carolyn
We had an episode with those kiwi jandals. My partner broke a rib because he was wearing them while trying to get an Evil Cow out of our olive grove!
ReplyDeleteOh no! .... how terrible and sorry your partner broke a rib.
