William Morris 1834 ~ 1896

My work is the embodiment of Dreams ~ 1858.

William Morris was the single most influential designer of the nineteenth century.
Morris was an Artist, political theorist, scholar, translator, publisher, writer and poet.
Renowned for his wallpapers and textiles. His designs were popular in late Victorian artistic homes of taste.

Pearwood

I've long been a fan of William Morris for his classic designs, rich colours and patterns, which still look good and have timeless appeal and can be purchased today.

Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.
~ William Morris

I hope that you are having a great week

  5. Hello Carolyn,
I think the first time I got really interested in William Morris was when I saw some of his wallpaper in good ole Wichita, Kansas Old Cowtown Museum's Murdock House. In the Diningroom the walls has Morris wallpaper. It is beautiful.
    Enjoyed your post,

I don't know, that just makes me laugh...and I cannot help but wonder if he was gay...I know...but I can't help but to wonder...not that all male interior designers are gay...but that would just be funny...he would be perchance the father of all gay interior designers today... haha!
