Roses and thank you.

Thank you all for your sweet messages.
It really made me feel glad to know that I have so many caring and kind friends.
I had my Doctors appointment on Friday and he said that everything looked fine but took another swab, just to be on the safe side, so hopefully I will get the results in about 10 days, so I will keep you posted.
I will be so glad when this is all behind as the non Ladylike poses are not nice.

David Austin Rose ~ Mary Rose.

I really adore the old fashioned David Austin roses.
This is one of my favourites as it has the most delicious fragrance and the flowers are of attractive loose patterned formation and has the prettiest, strong rose pink colouring.
When I was pruning the roses back in July, one of the cuttings I put into a pot with soil and now I have started another plant. Do you ever do this when you are pruning your roses?
Very easy, I might add.

I am having a relaxing time ~ I did some Christmas shopping yesterday. In the big department shop where I like to shop, they were having 25% off, for the day, so that was a good time to put away a few Christmas presents.
Also Victoria got the results for her Bachelor degree in the mail and she has passed, so one very happy daughter. We celebrated yesterday, by going out to lunch, which was really enjoyable.

There is still time to enter my giveaway, which I will be drawing on Monday, so please leave me a comment and I will add your name ~ thank you.
I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend.

Hugs
Carolyn

Yes, all the hard work, weekends and late nights has paid off for our daughter.
Shopping online is a good thing too.
I will do some of that too.

  11. I am quite relieved, but still keeping my fingers crossed for good test results. And WAHOOO for Victoria! Congratulations!

Mmmm, I can almost smell that rose from here. I've never tried to root a rose cutting before, but I've heard of caning, where you bend a cane down to the soil and stake it. It will apparently grow more roots at that spot.

Ah, shopping. Yikes, off I go!

  12. Phew the challenge is over. Carolyn my dear friend I do love the placemats. Did you make them yourself. I remember doing them at school. They are gorgeous and will make my table look brighter and cherry especially now we're having a few summer days.. Hmmm it was during the week!!
I'm glad you've been back to the Dr. My friend had that problem earlier in the year and hasn't had any monthly since! So hopefully it might be the end for you too. Luv and hugs KJ

  13. Another hurdle jumped! Congrats to your daughter too. I've never tried that with a rose clipping, I'll have to try it. Have yourself a wonderful weekend!

  14. Hi Carolyn!

I am glad all seems alright from your visit at your doctor. Fingers crossed the exams will give the same answers.

Please tell my congratulations to Victoria!

Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos of roses. They will add some sun to my day.
Here it is raining, which might not get many people motivated to go to todays Christmas market, to which I was wise not to register (I was too cold there last year).

Lots of hugs to you and your hubby and Victoria,
    Sophie.

  15. Carolyn, I have had a house full of people for Thanksgiving and my computer time has been very limited! I am SO glad the news from the doctor was good and SO happy for Victoria! Two good reasons to be thankful and I am celebrating with you! Hope you have a fun weekend...without too much shopping :)

  16. Hi Sares,

It really does work and I was so pleased that I could grow another from the cuttings. You can do it with hydrangeas too, as my sister gave me one of her's and it grew.

Thank you Sophie, for your kind words and I will pass on the message to Victoria.

Many thanks Susan and glad that you had a good Thanksgiving dinner with your family. Time spent away from the computer is good, I know this and spend too much time at it myself.

Thank you Gypsy Purple and I hope that your weekend is going great.

thanks Vee, good to have your visit.

    Hi Margaret,

Lovely to have your visit and your kind message.

    Hi Bella,

Many thanks for your visit and your kind words and I will pass on the congratulations to Victoria.
When you are pruning the rose, make sure you have a little nodule and then it will just make a new plant.

    Hi Karen,

    Thanks for your visit.
I did do the screenprinting on the placemats and glad that you like them. Now all we need now is some Summer weather to enjoy.
It does seem to be a common thing, and I have had other friends that have had similar health issues. I am sure that I will be ok.

Thank you Donna, I will come and visit tomorrow, I should be in bed now.

    Hi June,

Thank you so much for your visit and it is always so lovely to hear from you.
Do try and propagate your roses, as it is really fun having another one grow, from the cuttings.

    Hugs
    Carolyn

  21. Oh my goodness, Carolyn, your David Austin rose is gorgeous. I had several of them before we started a major construction project at our home. I'm hoping some of them survived their transplant. If not, I guess we'll get to have fun picking up some new ones.

Congrats to your daughter-you must be so proud!

Finally, good luck with the labwork. You know, that's what I do in my "real world". I'll keep a good thought and a prayer for you.

    Have a lovely weekend!

    Hugs from me to you,

  24. Carolyn, I am so glad that everything is good so far in your diagnosis...It will continue to do so...I know it in my heart! :) I love the pitures, especially the first one with the roses and pearls in that antique weathered box...what was the box used for? Sorry, I always love to know if there is a story behind beautiful old things :) I am going to try that with my roses when I prunes them soon...great idea...I have honestly never tried it...do you get alot of flowers and good sizes? I know, from a sucker that I let get big, just to see if it would bloom...it did...and they were teeny tiny lil blooms...Be well sweet friend :) Besos, Rose

  25. Hi Monica,

Many thanks for your kind words, lovely to have a visit from you.

Thank you Diane and I hope that you are having a good weekend.

    Hi Judy,

    Many thanks for your visit.
I hope that your roses transplant ok and that you will have them growing again in no time.
That is interesting that your profession is in the laboratory - such an important job.

    Hi Rose,

Lovely to have you come by, my friend. The box I will have to show you in a post. It is not actually old I don't think so anyway, but it is quite interesting.
About the roses - the flower is one that came off the new plant.
So it is just the same as they normally are but do not know how big it will grow. Worth a try and look forward to hearing how you get on, should you try this.

thank you very much Barbara, for your kind words.

Thanks Lisa, the pink rose is pretty isn't it.

    Hi Tammy,

Please go and have your examinations, then it puts your mind at rest. Thank you for your visit.

    Hi Susan,

I hope that you are having a lovely weekend too and thanks for your visit and kind words.

    thank you Slices of Beauty.

My eldest is just now applying for her first job ever, funny how much she has matured since graduating high school just this June, I hoped and hoped...I just didn't know it would happen so fast...but as happy as I am that she is maturing...I am also thankful to still be called mamie :) Kinda takes the edge out of knowing that soon one day, she will be in her own home no longer mine...Besos to you dear amiga (friend) Rose
