Champagne Comte Audoin de Dampierre
We were invited to a Degustation luncheon and had the priviledge of meeting the Comte Audoin De Dampierre ~ maker of this eponymous champagne.
We sat down with a group of lovely people to share a wonderful meal and to drink a few glasses of his exquisite cuvees.
The Count is an eccentric aristocrat whose passion for producing exceptional champagne is perhaps matched by his enthusiasm for his vintage car collection.
He was able to tell us some tales, of life for him and his family in France.

ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful - what a great experience! Love the roses. Love your little suitcase find too.
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are absolutely to die for!

ReplyDeleteWow! Must have been an incredible lunch. Just look at how long that table is! The flower arrangement is gorgeous, and I'm sure he entertained you with lots of wonderful stories. Lucky girl!
ReplyDeleteOh, how lovely for you Carolyn. The table looks so pretty. Your centerpiece photo of the roses is very nice...such a pretty color. Glad you had a wonderful time...
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Thank-you for visiting,
Hugs, Nancy
We did have a lovely time, with great company, champagne and food.
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice way to spend an afternoon and not have to work.
The table and flowers (loved the pale pink roses) were beautiful.
With the Family having lived around the Champagne area for 700 years, yes he did have some wonderful stories to tell and the time seemed to go by so quickly.

Hi Carolyn!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your beautiful words! They are always much appreciated.
A cadeau (plural cadeaux) is a 'party favor', a 'small gift' in French...
Gorgeous flowers!!
Monica.
Thank you Monica ~ I have learnt a new word today.
ReplyDeleteThe pink roses were so pretty and with the green hydrangeas, went together so well.

ReplyDeleteI just love your blog! thanks for visiting mine, and I wish that I had the suitcase that you covered with labels. It is divine! ( and I just love champagne!)
ReplyDeleteOh my word, how fortunate to be in the company of Comte Audoin de Dampierre, mouth watering cuvee... délicieux! After reading the menu, I shall have oysters on the brain throughout the weekend!

Hi Tracie,
ReplyDeleteYou could have had my share ~ I am not a huge fan of oysters, I ate two and that was all.
We have Oysters from Bluff ( a town in the lower part of the South Island) they have a very short season and that has just started now and these are delicous.
If you ever get to try these ( they are the best) you should.
Hugs
Carolyn
