Roses from the garden

I am delighted with my new delicate blush pink rose that is flourishing at the moment. The flowers are large and very beautiful and remind me of a  ballerinas tutu.  I have been filling the house with vases of pretty bouquets of sweetness and it is wonderful to breathe in the scent
Named in memory of Empress Josephine,  she purchased the famous Chateau de Malmaison and garden in 1799.
It is wonderful that Rose breeders like David Austin,  have been able to preserve some of the Antique roses and today we can still pick the same pretty bouquets that Josephine clipped from her  garden.

The rose has to be the most romantic flower, especially if it has a perfume and my favourite, a soft pastel colour.

Thank you to all who took the time to write such a kind note about my bears.
On Saturday the weather was fickle and with blustery wind and rain and with it also been a Farmers Market all people seemed to want to buy was their bacon and eggs, fruit and vegetables and flowers for the weekend.
Sadly there were no sales, but we had a fun time meeting and talking to some of the others who were brave enough to venture out.

Let us be grateful for people who make us happy, they are charming gardeners who make our souls blossom
~ Marcel Proust.

I hope your week is full of things that make you happy
hugs
Carolyn

  1. Dear Carolyn
Souvenir de la Malmaison is one of my favourite roses too.
I love the flat quartered form of the petals and the delicate perfume.
    Those blooms are exquisite.
I hummed and hawed about the Parnell market on Saturday - now I'm sorry I missed it!
I get their email each week and saw the beautiful bear on the front - but didn't think for a moment it was you!
I've been thinking of you - it takes a long time to come to grips with losing your Mum.
    Take care
    love

  10. My dear Carolyn, I`m sorry you did not sell , but also think that you then happily, could bring all your loved bears home again,- as I know what big work of love it is creating such sweet fellows.
Your rose is stunning, dear friend,- it truly looks like tutues and that soft colour is sweetness to my eyes. I will have to go look for one in springtime.

  17. Dearest Carolyn,
So sad for having to pack up the same amount of things that you came with... anticipating a good sale that never happened. Know that feeling too!
Your roses at least do make up some for that down feeling. They are so lovely and I too enjoy the fragrant ones the most.
Enjoy your mid-week and sending you hugs,
    Mariette

  19. Thank you for sharing your pretty roses with us. They bring a delightful fragrance and beauty into your garden and home. I'm still on the look out to grow them myself, but for now, with Winter approaching, I'm glad that the ones we do have are lingering on a little longer. I'm sorry to hear about the outcome at the market as your bears are so sweet and a labour of love. Sending you best wishes for this week and may it be a one filled with peace :)

  20. I'm sorry to read it wasn't a great sale but then you create special souls who are reserved to very special beings who probably didn't cross your path this time.
That rose is too precious and its delicacy is so striking you can almost feel the texture and feel the scent of the rose.
My roses - don't know why - lack scent, it was something that pained me until last Summer. One of the biggest roses I have in my garden - and was unscented during the first blooms - started giving scent and what a glorious scent.
I really don't know what happened but now I'm hoping that all bushes follow suit.
    Enjoy yours Dear Carolyn.

  31. Carolyn,
These roses are very unusual looking and so beautiful. They don't look like the ordinary roses, and the color is so soft and pretty, but appear to be sturdy at the same time. You know your rose post put a smile on my face, don't you? A simple rose is magic to me.

    Have a peaceful weekend.

    love,
