Hi Dear friends,
Hope you have had a lovely week and now it is the weekend again!
Today just a few random things I snapped photos of around our little Island
The first is this lovely sculpture of the sweet fantail ( the Maori name is Piwakawaka)
We can often see these beautiful little birds flitting around in the bush near our deck - I love watching them as they always seems so happy.
Next is an ambitious wooden architectural sculpture, that was built with the help of a group of Unitec students.
Named the ' Gateway,' this 16 metre long structure resembles a meeting house. The skeletal show stopper is built from more than 250 planks of wood. I like how the view of Rangitoto Island is framed as you look out. With the shimmering sea and the beautiful light it looked amazing and life seemed so very tranquil
Summer in New Zealand seems to come later and later each year and when it does we have had a few sweltering days.
Last Tuesday though we had a whole months rainfall in one day which proved to be a problem for many people, with flooding, and landslips.
Do hope you have a lovely weekend
hugs
Carolyn

Carolyn, it's nice sometimes to take a walk around our neighborhoods. We find interesting things along the way. I love the Charlie Brown quote, and so true, isn't it? This is a lovely bouquet of flowers. I hope you are enjoying these March days.
ReplyDeletelove, ~Sheri
That design of the sculpture is so clever giving those wonderful views! It is always good to see your island. Sorry that the huge rainfall caused such problems. Have you had less of a drought problem this year? Sarah x
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
DeleteYes, the drought problem has not really been a problem this summer and we have only had to buy one load of water. Thanks for your visit.
Carolyn xo
Dear Carolyn
ReplyDeleteLily has grown, right? Oh yes, I am so proud I could burst!
The expected rain should cool it down a bit. Thank you so much for your visit. Wishing you a beautiful week.
blessings,
Penny
That blue sky looks inviting!
ReplyDeletePiwakawaka is cute with its tiny eye and big tail! You have such a beautiful blue sky.
ReplyDeleteYou too!! Have a good weekend,Carolyn!
Dearest Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteLove that 250 planks wooden architectural building!
You are in the beginning of Fall now and for sure you will have still pleasant days to come.
Here spring is there and it is warm already. What a nasty surprise was the snow blizzard for the north and even frost for us in the south. It killed all our azalea blossoms and their young tender leaves. Also the young leaves from the Japanese Magnolias got all brown. The two pomegranate trees are looking like completely dead. It was a shock for nature here in the south!
But life goes on and we enjoy potting up plants and tending the garden again. On the 20th we have the Garden Club coming to tour our gardens so we better tidy up!
Hugs,
Mariette
I love the sculpture of the bird. Happy Thursday, Carolyn.

Such lovely sculpture and architecture in this beautiful place. The view through the 'Gateway' is stunning. Lovely flowers, too. We are having more rain than we would like here, too, with landslides closing roads. I hope you get more sunshine for your week. Thank you for your dear, kind visits, dear Carolyn. Sending hugs xo Karen
