It's the time of the year when we can celebrate time honoured traditions. Listening to Carols, baking biscuits, and
to be able to enjoy the peace of being with family and friends and share in the joy of the season.
I finally got around to decking the halls... putting the tree up and seem to be a little behind in all my holiday preparations.
The excitement of opening up the suitcase and finding old loved decorations that we have collected, over the years, some kindly gifted from lovely daughter and friends and every year I love to make some handmade ones. Each cherished heirloom has a story to tell and they evoke fond memories
Daughter, Victoria has shared a tutorial on her website, for making quaint little handmade Christmas houses that you can display on a mantle or table. If you are interested, the link is here

I hope that you are enjoying the lead up to the holiday season and not having too much stress, with the busy time of the year.
Now must go and finish writing my cards and hope to be able to tick off a few more things, on my to do list.
hugs
Carolyn
Your home is looking very festive. I've put a few decorations here and there. Don't really want to deal with a big tree, so maybe will just go get a tabletop one from Ikea. :) Happy holidays!

Your home is all decked out for Christmas, Carolyn. It looks wonderful! I got a small tree this year, but loving it just the same. I see you have many treasured ornaments from Christmas' past. The pink heart ornament is special. And the mirror hanging on the wall is gorgeous. What a special quote from Bob Hope. Wishing you a Merry Christmas, Carolyn.

The family history connected with treasured ornaments for the tree is something rather special which often recalls lots of Christmas memories when the children were young - your tree looks lovely.

Dear Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteChristmas was creeping up slowly, then upped it's arrival to super sonic speed!
I don't worry about getting decorations up too early as we like to continue celebrating into January.
Peace and Joy to you and yours............*s*
Hello, Carolyn! Your tree is gorgeous. I love your ornaments and that each one has a story to tell. Ornaments like that are so very special and precious. I also enjoyed Victoria's tutorial. Cute houses! Have a festive and fabulous weekend! xoxo
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, I watched your daughter's video. She did a great job, and she's gorgeous! Her houses are so sweet. Your tree is beautiful. I especially like that the ornaments have been collected through the years and you revisit them and use them every year. Wonderful memories for you, I'm sure. Merry Christmas!

Victoria's video is wonderful and she makes it look so easy. Your decorations look wonderful too. We have some tree decorations that are old and tatty but hold such memories. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteDearest Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteGlad you managed to decorate your tree! Looking really nice and yes, with children it no doubt is fun to relive so many fond memories with the different ornaments.
Since 1988 when we had to move to Pennsylvania and on to Italy, we never have had another tree. I sold it all and being frank, I never did regret for having done so. We only have a few special decorations, with fond memories too. Pieter's Mom made some, my Dublin Mama made me some and they all live in heaven so that is a joy.
Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas!
Hugs,
Mariette
