World post day
Today in a world where much of our correspondence is by email and texts, it got me thinking there is something very special and satisfying, receiving in your mail box and reading a handwritten letter or card.
Did you know today, the 9th of October is World post day?
What better way to embrace this beautiful tradition is by sitting down and writing a letter to someone special.
The words are so true, 'To get a letter ~ write a letter
Thank you for your sweet visits and comments you leave for me and I want you to know that I appreciate them very much
Hope that you are having a happy weekend
hugs
Carolyn

I do have 3 special pen pals and we write letters and send them through the mail. Mailing letters is very old school and very warm. Thanks for this post and reminder.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post, Carolyn! I had no idea today is World Post Day, thank you for letting us know. And I absolutely love the idea of writing a letter to someone special especially in this age of fast correspondence, it's like gifting a joy that is felt in the heart. Much love ~
ReplyDeleteI did not know there was a World Post Day, but I think it should be wonderful to go back in time, only a tiny bit, to send postcards and handwritten letters to precious friends, so much better than the fast going on line social media visits.

ReplyDeleteHello,Carolyn
ReplyDeleteToday is World Post Day?! I did not know that.
It is wonderful for people to remember that receiving a letter in someone's own handwriting is so warm. We have accustomed to immerse in the internet communication tools. Happy new week to you and your family!
I love "snail mail" ... I thought I was the only one left who actually sends letters via the post!

Dear Carolyn, a lovely post from you, again. The words so true, and we should remember sometimes to really write that letter from the heart, to someone special. Thank you for your loving words, --and I love your ballet shoes !!

You have inspired me to write a letter to my mother in law today! Since my own mom passed last year, I rarely get paper mail. It does feel good to kind something in the box.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that today was World post day, thank you for your reminder, darling Carolyn, you're right, that of handwriting is such a precious art which is fading ... sometimes I happen to write a letter, actually I so love to use my ballpens :) ( I also have some fountain pens which sometimes I enjoy using ! )
ReplyDeleteHope you're having the best of evenings,
I'm sending hugs and ever much love to you
Xx Dany
Dear Carolyn!
ReplyDeleteI agree .... A letter is so special.
I'm happy that I have so much love letters from my husband from the nineties.
Hope you are fine.
I'm very glad to be back and read your beautiful blog.
I missed you.
Happy week for you!
With love,
Geli
Hi Dear Carolyn, It is very special to receive a hand written letter and so very rare today. I have so many saved letters from my mother who passed away in 2000. These letters are very special to me since I know I will never have another from her. I still love to write a letter or a card as well. Thank you for sharing World Post day. Lovely photos and the verse is so true.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you for a great week ahead.
Hug and Joys xo
I appreciate this post so much ... there is something very special and satisfying about receiving and reading a handwritten letter or card...
ReplyDeleteAlas in these 'modern times' I fear this custom is not as popular. Let us all make the effort to send someone special a card or letter ... perhaps that Aunt of ours ... or grandparent would appreciate it - even a friend we may not have seen for a time.
I wonder who will you send one to ...
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan for your kind visit. I used to always write to my parents once a week and my sister and I would do alternate weeks.
Deletehugs
Carolyn

Oh Carolyn, I loved this post so much because I still enjoy sending and receiving handwritten notes and cards in the mail. So glad to hear you do too. Your words are very true here, there is something very special and satisfying, receiving in your mail box and reading a handwritten letter or card. Thank you for reminding me of that, Carolyn. Your pictures are lovely today.

Dearest Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteHad no idea about that.
Knowing that you too love good stationery and a fountain or calligraphy pen, we both can appreciate this. Sadly however, not many people continue writing nowadays. It is becoming an almost lost art...
Hugs,
Mariette
Hello, Dear Carolyn - such a lovely way to celebrate this special day with your beautiful post. I have always loved to write letters and kept correspondence with my friends and relatives for many years, but sadly it is true, letters are something very rare these days. I have saved them all, and happily I still write and receive pretty cards.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely week, xo hugs Karen
Handwritten notes, I never see them anymore! So strange! Everythings is on the computer...
ReplyDeleteLovely post from you!

Nowadays we seldom write letters with a pen. Handwriting is a really good custom.
