The long wait
It has been pouring with glorious rain, the past few days and we are very happy.
After the dry, hot summer spell we have been having it was lovely to get back out in the garden again and plant out a few plants.
My belated Christmas /birthday present has finally arrived and the long wait was so worth it. I have always loved these wonderful Anduze pots. They were imported from France and after the wait of over 11 months, happy to finally have them.
The pots are made in the small town of Anduze, located in the South of France, since the 16th century. The design has endured and Artisans are still making these beautiful garden urns by hand, the same way their anchestors did. They come in many colours,
we chose the Antique Patina and love the garland of flowers and ornate design.
We chose a Standard ' Prunus Nobilis Bay Laurel' to plant in them and this plant is great, that it is evergreen, has fragrant leaves and is ideal for cooking.
Goodbye February
Welcome March!
Enjoy the rest of the week
hugs
Carolyn

That's a long wait for pots but they are lovely and the history behind them worth it. The town I am from in Mississippi is called Laurel; it was named after the laurel thickets found around the area at the time of its founding. Happy March to you! Tammy

ReplyDeleteThese are very beautiful post, dear Carolyn! Well worth the long wait! So nice to have the Bay trees, too. I cook with Bay all the time, but of course with dried leaves from the grocery. How wonderful to have them fresh. So glad you are getting some much-needed rain. Here we are getting too much! Hope your week is lovely with time in the garden. Hugs xo Karen

ReplyDeleteDear Carolyn
ReplyDeleteWell worth waiting for, they are beautiful and will gain a special patina with age! A great choice of shrub to plant as well. I had a Bay tree in a Versailles planter at our old house and as it took us ages to buy again I left it behind!
I've always meant to buy another!
Oh the rain and cooler temps have been so welcome over here.
I added a light mohair blanket to our bed and we are sleeping better.
Soon our long hot summer will be only a memory, that we will talk about with our grandies!

ReplyDeleteDear Carolyn!
ReplyDeleteI spent every year my holidays in this part of France where your pots are from. I have the same in blue for my olive tree. This tree is now 18 years here by me.
A little part of France in your beautiful home!
