Souvenir de Malmaison |
This is the time of the year that is difficult to have a garden here ...with the scorching sun and lack of water makes it so hard to keep plants alive. As our only water supply is from the rain that falls, to fill up our water-tanks, and without the rain, we have to resort to buying water from a tanker, to fill them.
A few weeks back I looked at my roses and they did not look healthy} Quelle horreur! they were on the way out.
After much loving tender care, with rose food, mulch and water thankfully they are now looking good, with rich green leaves and flowering beautifully again, so happy that I can take a few photos of them again, to share with you.

Dear Carolyn,my dear friend,
ReplyDeletethis is such a beautiful rose ! Thank you for sharing!
Wishing you a wonderful week,
sending Love and hugs and blessings,
Claudia xo
Your loving attention has given your beautiful roses new life, dear Carolyn. We have long, dry summers here near Seattle, too, and we have a well, which runs low, so watering has to be carefully conserved. As gardeners, this is difficult, as we hate to see our lovingly tended flowers and plants suffer. I hope you have a bit of rain soon so you can enjoy more beautiful roses.
ReplyDeleteHugs xo Karen
Aww beautiful roses ..love the colors :)
ReplyDeleteSmiles and love x
What a gorgeous dusty, delicate, shade of pink for beautiful rose is♡
ReplyDeleteHello Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you were able to save the roses. They are just beautiful. I can't wait for the snow to be gone and spring to return!
Big hug

Oh those beautiful roses, dear Carolyn, they are so adorable and I would have cried ,too, if they would have died because of no water. So wonderful you was able to help them back in good growth again friend. Here it can also be dry in summertime, and very expensive the use the water from our local water company. We never tried not to have water enough, but it is very expensive using it for watering the beds and lawn !!
ReplyDeleteThank you sweetie for your e-mail, you will hear from me, I`m happy it arrived safe :-)
Hugs from Dorthe
Glad your roses are alright! They are beautiful aren't they. xx
ReplyDeleteDear Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteOh how I love this rose.. It looks like a David Austin English rose.. You really have taken such care in bringing it back to health.. With our shortage of water, I too have trouble keeping my roses looking like the should.. Mine really have not recovered fully... Thank you so much for sharing.. I can almost smell the fragrance.
blessings,
Penny
I love this rose I have in my rose garden for a few years ... after having seen the flowers blooming in the bushes we bought as first, we've decided to add some climbing plants to put by our gazebo, I love all my ancient roses, but perhaphs this is the one which fascinates me more than the others ... every flower is different from the others, it's really far charming !
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your amazing roses with us, my dearest Carolyn.
Have a wonderful remainder of your week,
sending so much love to you,
Dany

ReplyDeleteHi dear friend!! Me encantan las rosas son mi flor preferida !!
ReplyDeleteYour rain fed roses look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHugs back Carolyn. How I wish I could send you some rain – we have too much of it. I planted 450 daffodil bulbs last year, and only 32 of them came up – the rest drowned! Still the 32 that survived are flowering today, and they look lovely as do your roses.
ReplyDeleteLas rosas son tan bellas y poéticas.
ReplyDeleteI love the roses!

You have some beautiful roses in your garden Carolyn. I especially like the souvenir de Malmaison. Wasn't Malmaison the home of empress Josephine? I believe I visited the house and gardens years ago...Really pretty.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!

Such beautiful roses. It would have been a shame to lose them after all your hard work, I'm glad they survived.
ReplyDeleteMy Mom always said that. yvonne
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you were able to save your roses they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOne of my most favourite flowers.
Hope the week has been good to you - enjoy the coming weekend
All the best Jan
Dearest Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteOh here we are facing the very same problems in summer and also on top of that, very poor soil with absolutely no waterholding capacity. It breaks your heart to see rose bushes die off.
Enjoy your beauties and the good weather. We had lovely warm weather but tonight it's night frost again and there is a mean nippy wind out there.
Hugs,
Mariette
Carolyn, I've always loved the soft pink color of your roses. They are simply lovely. I can't wait until mine start to bloom once again, as we are coming into spring around here. Such a pretty post today for my Saturday morning. Thank you, Carolyn. I'm off to the lake today. I want to see if it has filled with the rain we've been having. The last time I visited, it was the lowest I've ever seen it.
ReplyDeletelove, ~Sheri
beautiful roses, such a lovely delicate pink
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, I can't believe you have produced these gorgeous flowers. I am obsessed with the English roses (David Austin to be exact:) and I want to plant them in our newly landscaped yard. It is 45 degrees and raining here now :\ so we have another month or so before we can plant.
ReplyDeleteLovely roses!

Dear Carolyn!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind visit on my little blog.
But I must say you that these photos are not from my house. They are from some houses in the South of France we rented the last years for holidays.
Hope you are fine and you can enjoy your dreamy roses!
With love,
Geli
