Working on the Interior

When it comes to change around our house, things seem to move at a snails pace.
One thing that I am very excited about that is happening though, is our front entrance, hallway and stairwell has had a lovely new coat of white paint.
Before, was a dark red paint with a gritty sand-paper finish which was popular in the 1990's and below the dado rail was a dark red fleur de lis wallpaper, which looked good at the time but was in need of a major change.
With the white it is bright and uplifting and seems to make the hallway feel much larger

We have been looking at wallpaper and I love this paper and
have sent away for a sample of and will see if it works for below the dado rail.
Photographs will hopefully come soon.
As for the kitchen we are still waiting for the Kitchen Place to come back with a quote so we can make a start on things there.

Thanks for the kind notes you left me when I hurt my back. Thankfully it is feeling much better now and I am able to drive the car again. It was too painful even doing small things like that.
They say things go in threes,  I managed to pick up a cold with runny nose and eyes, and did not help with the strong smell of paint throughout the house. After the day the oil based sealer had gone on, that night in bed we had to fling open all the windows in our bedroom even though it was cold outside, the strong smell was too overpowering.
Yesterday I went to visit the dentist to have a crown replaced, the old one had a crack which was causing pain.
So I feel my little blog has been neglected and have been missing sitting down to visit you all which I hope to do soon.
Hope you are enjoying the week
hugs
Carolyn

so nice to hear from you again! I hope, your back is better now and the Dentist did a good job!
Working on the interior is always so much work. When you start, you always find new things to change ;O) I know, it will look lovely, when you have done all the rooms you want to!
Wishing you a lovely rest of the week,
sending much Love and hugs to you, my dear friend!

  3. It must be frustrating to having things moving at a snail's pace with your changes to the house. At least it gives you time to think it all out carefully. We always seem to do decorating during the winter but try to use those paints that have less odour I'm glad your back has improved and hope you won't be suffering with any other ailments. I don't enjoy visiting the dentist even for s check up. Sarah x

  4. They say things come in threes Carolyn and you have had all of yours now, so upwards and onwards. It is funny the way we are unaware of parts of our body like out backs until they give us pain, perhaps we take ourselves too much for granted.
That wall paper looks really interesting.

  25. Hello Carolyn, I know exactly what you mean about things happening slowly. I so want to get the house tidied up and re-painted, but it is like trying to push a boulder up the stairs!
I called over to see how you were so it’s nice to know your back is better. It sounds as though you have had more than your fair share of painful things of late. It is funny how things come in threes, but they always do. Hugs Barbara
