A quake and a shower

You are looking out our kitchen window.
adore seeing the view, of the pretty blue sea and sky.
The glass bird hanger is so cute, and was given to me years ago by my flatmate's Mother, who had gone back on holiday to the Netherlands and she kindly brought me back this gift.

Celebrate summer
lovely sunny days
clear blue skies ... life is good.

Yesterday, we had two earthquakes here, which came as a real surprise.
I was standing at the sink doing the dishes when the first one hit - just a 3.0 and then the next one was a 4.0, that one made a rumble, as if a train was coming through and the house shook.
Made my knees shake and I always find them scary, not knowing what is going to be next.
Normally, here where we live we do not get many, in fact the last one was back in 2007, according to the newsreader.

After days of nothing but an endless hot, dry summer,  I am happy to say that yesterday we finally had a shower of much needed rain.
Yeah!  for ... water for the plants and the water tanks - did not mind at all going for a walk in the rain, as it was so refreshing after not having any rain for so long.

Thank you for your lovely comments and visiting me and to new followers.
Many thanks also, for your friendship and being able to visit all your inspirational blogs.
hugs
Carolyn

  8. Frightening, I think! I have no experience about earthquake. We don't have those here, only seldom so weak we hardly notice them. Instead last night we watched very fine green and yellow northern lights in the sky even here in the Southern Finland. It is not usual at all!

    Have a nice week!

  14. Ouch! An earthquake or two will keep you on your toes, not necessarily in a good way. What a pretty window hanger!

  15. Oh no Carolyn.. earthquakes scare me. We lived in Southern CA when "the big ones" hit and they were measuring in the 6's. We lost power for a few days and people had significant damage to their homes. THEN.. we had aftershocks for weeks later. It was so nerve-rattling. Living in Seattle we seldom get anything .. I'm thankful for that.

    Glad you got rain!!

  26. Dearest Carolyn,
That sure is scary and I know the feeling! When we stopped by on our way back from Jakarta, via Amsterdam airport to visit my Parents, I was in my own room when we woke up at 3:22 AM to a 5.5 power earth quake. That never leaves your memory!
Glad things are fine with you and your home.
