The Queens Diamond Jubilee

Had to buy the Union Jack cushion when we were over in England

Queen Elizabeth, is celebrating, 60 years on the throne. Looking back over the  six decades as  Monarch, she must have  experienced enormous social change.
Over the next four days, millions of people will gather to watch this take place, with the parades and to celebrate with street parties and picnic lunches.  I always love watching the pomp and pageantry that takes place with a Royal event like this.

The photos we took outside Buckingham Palace

Traude is having a fabulous blog giveaway, she is generously giving away an Audrey Hepburn box.
As we all love Audrey, why don't you go across for a visit and meet the lovely Traude and her wonderful blog and enter the drawer.

We have a long weekend here in NZ, it is Queens birthday weekend and Monday is a holiday.

Hope that you are enjoying the weekend

Hugs
Carolyn

What a wonderful celebration. You know, I didn't really know about the Queen until I saw the movie about her. It was very interesting. I am looking forward to Anita's Paris link party, and I will come over and browse at your lovely post as well. Now, I am headed over to your friend's blog, as I love Audrey too.

  11. Dear Carolyn,

Such a lovely post and yes, I too was pondering the changes our Queen must have observed over the past six decades. I recall her silver jublilee in 1977; I was eight years old and I can remember parts of that summer day so vividly. Our primary school had had mugs printed to celebrate this historical day. Where has all that time gone?

Warm thoughts to you dear Carolyn.

A delightful time in the Queen's life and in history. The celebrations would be something to see in person and be a part of this great time.
