A new start!

I love the start of every new year, when we have a fresh slate to work on.
May we be able to fill the blanks, with love and laughter.

Waste no tears upon the blotted record of lost years but turn the leaf and smile, oh smile to see the fair white pages that remain to thee ~ E. W. Wilson

For the first time in years, I am packing away our Christmas decorations early.
The reason for this is, we are going to start on decorating our lounge.
It is time for a change as the green wallpaper is now past its best by date, will hopefully be replaced with a clean, white palette that will brighten and lighten up the room.

There are so many different whites, grey whites, white whites, creamy whites and it is just getting the right one that will look good in our room.
So we are taking a vote as to which one we like the best, as even by day and night, they can look quite different.
I look forward to showing you when it is all finished.

Hope that you are enjoying your  week and the start of the year.
Hugs
Carolyn

  5. I do hope the reno goes well. I have a new Year wish to take the wallpaper off my lounge walls and paint them this year as well. Although mine wont be during the summer.
Mine are pale green and I'm going for a just off sort of white. I haven't chosen yet. I will look forward to see what colour you use.

  7. Dearest Carolyn,

What about the center row, center? I always love a warm, creamy white instead of the harsh white or blueish, grayish whites. It lifts us up more, like candle light creates that perfect ambiance. A tad of a golden glow.
You will manage to pick one out that is right. Good luck with the task of making it nice again.
    Love to you,

    Mariette

  18. Happy New Year Carolyn! Best Wishes to you and your family.

A fresh start in your lounge will be fun. Most of my rooms are painted with a light cream color. I love the brightness it gives the room and makes the room so bright. Some people think it is plain, but I'd rather put the decorations into the furniture and accents. Cream color goes with everything. Have fun!!

  20. What fun....I redid my kitchen and painted it white when we moved in to our new home...whites can be tricky. I picked out one and the painter started and I had to stop him because it was just not right...hope you find the right one. I finally did... I love my kitchen now!

  26. Ah! the White Paint Game! My favorite whites have come from the Ralph Lauren paint line. I am not sure if they still are available. I just use my paint chips and have it made from there.

What is your favorite paint company, as far as color?
It will be fun to see your process in your lounge. It is going to be fabulous I know.

  52. Happy New Year!

I think we are on the same track. I'm heading out today to get paint samples for my bedroom that we just did a quick re-do on. We didn't have time to paint before the holidays...too much pressure in picking colors if you know what I mean ;) It's hard to see your colors but I think I like the bottom two and the middle one the best. I know it will look fantastic when your done. Looking forward to it!

    Wishing you a wonderful day.

    Hugs ~ Jenn
