Roses for Friday

So seems that life has got busy around here.
Yesterday was moving day, for our Daughter and Son, who are moving into an apartment.
I have been busy packing up china plates, pots and pans which are surplus from home for them to use in their new place.
The apartment is in a lovely old building, which has been renovated and will show photos of next time.
The day was so wet, and spent most of it dodging raindrops from the car to the apartment.
We were glad to have couriers carry the Queens size beds though, because the lift is so small and would not accommodate them and they are on the top floor and needed to be carried up all the stairs to the 9th floor.
I will admit I am a little sad, that they have now both flown the nest and will be strange being just Darby and Joan at home. But do know that we will be happy to have them come home for weekends ~ there bedrooms will still be there.

Son has been on holiday from University and somehow has managed to use up our quota of 90 gigs for our Internet broadband ... we seem to be back to dial up~ sigh!
May take a while to get around to visiting you, so roll on back to fast speed!

My dear friends, have a lovely weekend and I look forward to catching up with what you are doing.
Hugs
Carolyn

  1. Dearest Carolyn,

Understandably that you are a little sad due to the sudden empty nest. But that is life... we have to set our children free and accept that they will go their own way. But you phrased it so well, their bedrooms will be still there and ready to welcome them back 'home'...
We too got home this morning by 2:00 AM from The Netherlands and Germany where we were for 16 days. Good to be home again, our felines were so happy.
    Love to you,

    Mariette

  3. I'm still gasping for air. NINE floors? Not to worry, they will be home often and you can make their favorite meals and enjoy the good times again.

  4. Hi Carolyn,

Oh it must be hard to see them leave. Happy on one hand to have raised such wonderful adults who are ready to be on their own, but hard to have them not with you every day. It's nice that they will visit on weekends.

Have a wonderful weekend, darling! xoxo

Nice that your daughter and son have found an apartment. I can will imagine that it is difficult for you, when the two are out of your house. Yes, we mothers must learn to let go of the children. Again and again we must learn to let go....
With all my heart I wish you all the best.
    Have a nice weekend.

  6. It is so hard to have our children leaving home isn't it Carolyn? The good news is that they always come home again...usually bringing little ones with them in the years to come. That is the icing on the cake.
I hope your son and daughter love their new place!
    hugs from here...

  10. It is said that we are to give our children wings to fly and roots to find their way home. No doubt you have done that well. I was just talking with my girlfriend Shereen this morning. She is from India but lived in NZ for many years and is watching the rugby matches on tv. She loves rugby! Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend. Tammy

It is an exciting time for your children and I will look forward to seeing a photograph of their new digs. Also, my heart feels for you!! I don't have children, but if I did, I KNOW it would be hard, so I'll be thinking of you and your "Darby".

  21. My precious Carolyn,

Your roses are so sweet and I can almost smell the perfume..I so long for a relaxing moment for it has been a rough week at school. I am longing for what I had over the summer.....peace and quiet, freedom and creativity.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your thoughtful visit today; here I am, tired, but determined to post as usual. Do enjoy a cozy Saturday!!! Anita

  22. Dear Carolyn,
Oh I know the feeling becoming an empty nester, but it will be so special when your children come home to visit. I know you must be so busy helping them get moved. We did the same thing when our son left home. It is bittersweet but an excting time too when we realize they are grown and finding their way.
Blessing to your two dear ones for much happiness and success with their move.
You are a special mother and I am sure those bedrooms will still be used now and again.
Best wishes to you and your hubby as you adjust to the transition.

    Hugs, Celestina Marie

  24. My sweet, sweet Carolyn

Thank you for you kind words of encouragement about my art. I do not see myself as an artist for I see OTHERS whose skills have been TRAINED with much time and effort....I let my talents go too young and now all I have are thin and shallow renderings...but I made a choice. If people want my art, great. If not, I do hope that they will want my writings....that is what I am aiming for.....

MUCH LOVE TO YOU MY SWEET FRIEND! Anita

  25. I'd like to live on my own too, but being an only child, I'd miss my parents and especially grandparents a lot!
Hope you have a good week Carolyn and that next weekend will be spent in company of your "children"

  28. Well, that is a big milestone indeed, Carolyn, for both of them to leave at once. But sounds like their new home might have a nice view? And there's nothing like always being able to go home to your old room.

Wishing you a weekend of relaxed and happy memories. And thank you for visiting our new blog. :)

  29. Hi Carolyn,
I dread the future day, when my son and daughter eventually leave the nest. You must have so many mixed emotions, but a new beginning for you as well. That is something to appreciate, too. Best wished to your children, and their new endeavor...

  30. Hi Carolyn, Thank you so much for visiting by way of Mariette. She is such a lovely lady.
It is bittersweet when our children leave to go their own way. We are so proud of what they have become, we want them to succeed on their chosen path. After thirty years, I still keep sleeping arrangements so that all the out of towners can stay in comfort.
I have enjoyed browsing through your blog. I am now following your blog. Enjoy your spring, down under. Ginger

  35. My mama has been visiting with me for a month now, and she will be flying out tomorrow. We are spending the day today just talking and talking and talking....wishing that we could make the day a whole lot longer......

  36. I figure it must be quite a moment in time for you - it must initially leave a sense of emptiness but which I'm sure will soon be filled with a feeling of time for other things that maybe there wasn't time for before (I'm an ignorant really, I don't have any children and can only relate through my own moving away from home and what that was like for my mother!). Always enjoy your beautiful images, thank you.

  38. Dear Carolyn,
Although my daughter is still 16 we have been discussing colleges a lot lately...I guess it's about the right time since she is in 11th grade. And all this talk has me thinking about the day she might leave the nest...I just want you to know I can only imagine what you are feeling...I know it's part of life...You and I flew the nest once too...But does it have to come soooo soon? :-( Sending you a great big hug.

    Hugs and Kisses,
    ♥Ana
