French style is all about choosing a little of what is absolutely excellent, rather than a lot of what's nearly right.

In France, the past is always part of the present, where what is modern, lives peacefully with what has gone before.

I want to wish you a happy week.

  5. Bonsoir Carolyn...thank you...every little bit of French helps. Great quote. If you buy less you can afford to buy better. Saving up for something special is a great discipline. Not bad for dieting, either. Hugs, Trish

  6. Hi Carolyn
I adore beautiful old monogrammed linen too. And I couldn't agree more about having a little excellence rather than lot of mediocre!

  8. Hi Trish,

I love the French language and studied it in High School and I would like to be able to learn some more, as it was so long ago.
I enjoyed visiting you today and seeing the amazing market you had been too. Looked fabulous and loved the embroidered linen sheets you bought. Thanks for sharing.

  9. Hi Amanda,

I hope that you have a lovely week.
It is freezing cold here and you must be having similar weather.
We had the heater going this morning and you would not think it was October, feels more like June.

    Hi Charity,

They are gorgeous photos and the first one took my breath away.

  11. Your blog is so pretty Carolyn. My niece has been in Paris recently, in fact her in-laws took all the family to Europe for 5 weeks so she's very lucky. It is so cold down here as everywhere. but it's October??? I do hope they find that gunman tonight near Norsewood. It's horrible worrying about weirdo's like him so close to my family

  12. Complete style. It seems to be so effortless for the french. In fashion and decorating, I wonder why that is?! Hope you have a wonderful week ahead of you!

    Dear Karen,

How lucky for your niece and her family to go to Paris, that would be lovely for them.
We have cold weather here too, have had the heater going most of today.
I took my winter coat in to be drycleaned to put away, but I am thinking I will still need it, if the wintery weather continues.

    thank you Sares.
The French do seem to be so good at everything they do!
