Always looking up!

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery, while on a detour.

Every cloud has a silver lining ~ as the proverb goes.
Is the cup half full or half empty?
A pessimist says " the cup is half empty " and an optimist says " it's half full."

The longer I live the more I realize the impact of a good attitude and a positive outlook on life.
Life is full of so much beauty, from the small child, a smiling face, a kind elderly person.

Carpe diem! Rejoice while you are alive, enjoy the day live life to the fullest, make the most of what you have.
Quote ~ Horace ( Ancient Roman poet.)

I have recently read Michael J Fox's latest book ~ Always Looking Up.
Struck with Parkinson's, a debilitating degenerative disease, at the height of his fame Michael J Fox has taken what some might consider cause for depression and turned into a beacon of hope for millions.

He writes with warmth, humour and incredible honesty about his journey. He says "it may be one step forward and two steps back, but after a time with this disease, I've learned that what is important is making that one step count ~ Always looking up!
You have to love this Guy and admire his courage and optimism.

We have a long weekend here in NZ ~ so looking forward to it!
It is Labour weekend and we have a holiday on Monday so will be great to spend some time in the garden and doing some of the chores on the list.
After having being away the past two weekends, home seems like a lovely place to be.

I hope you are all well.
Have a wonderful weekend

Hugs
Carolyn

Michael J. Fox is truly an inspiration, isn't he? Looking up is really the only way to live, and live well.

And really.... in regards to that first photo...what girl wouldn't be looking up with Cary Grant in the seat beside her??!

Thank you Carolyn. I like this sentence and must remember it more often: "The longer I live the more I realize the impact of a good attitude and a positive outlook on life."

What a lovely attitude. I have not heard of Michael J. Fox's book before this. I was a big fan of his in the 80's.

Hi June,

Thank you for visiting and it is always so lovely to hear from you and your kind words.

Hi Pamela,

Michael J Fox is a real inspiration, and to be looking up and living well, is a good way to be. Having Cary Grant sit alongside
would be a good thing too.

Hi Dolores,

Thanks for your visit and it is a good quote to remember isn't it.

Hi Stefanie,

It must be so hard for Michael J Fox and you would be thinking all the time ... why me.
He is a special person and it is to be hoping that they can find a cure for this disease.

Hi Anne,

Many thanks for visiting my blog.
I enjoyed the book because of the love he had for his family. Also all the commitment he put into the Michael J Fox foundation, to raise money for research to try and find a cure.

Hi TattingChic,

He has an earlier book, Lucky Man, which was a Sunday Times bestseller.
Always looking up came out earlier this year, 2009.
I think we all enjoyed him ~ we loved him in Spin City. He was a witty and funny man.

Thank you Sares, great to hear from you.

People like Michael Fox make us very humble.. how easy it is for us able bodied people to feel sorry for ourselves.. well ME anyway. I must see if I can reserve his book at the Library tomorrow. And then wash the car, put some plants in my garden, start my bag, continue with my quilt.. watch Finding Nemo on TV 2... haha good plans. Have a nice relaxing weekend Carolyn. Enjoy your garden.

I like this post very much. For from this post, I have come to realize that I am a truly happy person! Now would you just think about that! Beautiful words dear Carolyn. I'm an MJF fan as well - & I love how he's taking such affirmative action in championing the cause of stem-cell research in the U.S. A very hard road to travel on, as the moral majority seem intent on scuttling the passage of any Bill in the Senate. I think a few of them need to walk in his shoes for a few weeks.
Millie ^_^

Carole~Maynard Greenhouse said...

He truly does inspire us all. He has always been one of my favorites. I hope in his lifetime he is able to see some advancement in stem cell research. He's worked so hard to make a difference.

Also thank you for my award...it truly touches my heart that you enjoy my little blog! I've been a bad blogger as of late too!
xxx....C

Draffin Bears said...

Absolutely Millie.
If they were to walk in his shoes for a week they would certainly take the stem cell research on board and make it an important matter.
The legacy of Christopher Reeve also was an advocate of stem cell research and they worked together to raise funds for this cause.

Hi Carole,

I really hope that in his lifetime he will see some action, with what could be such a wonderful way of helping so many and changing their lives.

Hi Carolyn,
Happy Labour weekend. I hope your days, through Monday will be very special. How fun to work around in the garden and enjoy the sunshine.
You are so right about a good attitude and looking forward. LIfe is too short to fret. Even with challanges having a positive outlook will see you through. I admire Michael J. Fox too and understand how hard it must be at times. My Father also had Parkinson's and I watched as he struggled with the disease. Dad always looked forward and tackled each hurdle with dignity and grace. Our attitudes and positive outlook through faith can make the difference.

Thank you for sharing you lovely post. It is an inspiration.

Blessings and hugs, Celestina Marie
