The little nest

Country Living

What I love most about Spring!

The dawn chorus of birds singing, lambs and calves skipping and playing in the paddocks, the leaves coming back on the deciduous trees and the green grass growing.

For the past few weeks we have been watching Mother Birdie busy with building her nest, outside my Sons bedroom window, in the window box, where it is dry and safe.
She has been going to and fro with twigs and making a safe little nest for her babies.
There are three blue eggs in the nest, so it will be exciting to see them hatch and watch the baby birds grow.
I tried to take a photo through the window, but could not get the angle right and it did not come out well. So I will keep you posted about the new family.

The peanut heart is a lovely idea and I suppose there must be some birds that would eat them?

  10. That bird house is so sweet and welcoming, I am not surprised they would want to bring new life into the world in this sweet little home.

Don't you just love nature? I sure do, it is such a great teacher. It never seizes me the wonder of it all, how by instinct they know just what to do and how.

    Lovely!

  14. Thank you so much Trish for your kind visit.
We have had quite unusual weather also, loud thunder and lightning last night and it is pouring with rain today.
Oh well, will be good for the hydrangea we have planted on a bank.
I hope that the wind dies down and you don't have anymore power cuts.

I want to thank you also, for your support of me/us over here. I didn't even know that there were so many kind and caring people in the world, until this happened!

  27. Hi Charity,

I have been thinking lots about you and the disaster you are experiencing over there.
Sorry to hear of the terrible time you are having.
Sending lots of hugs and good wishes that you can get your life back together. Glad that the sun is shinning and wishing for better days ahead for you.

    Hi Martha,

Yes, it is a little confusing and I had someone else writing the same thing and probably thought that I was going dotty!
Our seasons are opposite, so when we are having Summer,( around December) you will be having Winter.

    Hi DJ,

They are fun to watch and I am wondering once the little birds hatch out, if they are going to be tweeting and chirping and waking Marcel up early in the morning!

    Hi Marie Antoinette,

Lovely to hear from you and it must be so lovely watching your Peacocks.
We had a Domain not far from where we lived, when I was growing up and there were Peacocks and I loved to watch them strutting around and showing off.

    Hi Kim,

After your summer heat it must be nice to have a respite from the heat. Enjoy the Autumn days.

    Thank you Constance.
Nature is such a wonderful thing and I am loving everything I see around me.
    I appreciate your kindness.

    Hi Slices if Beauty,

    Dear Bella,

It is fun and I am looking forward to seeing the little birds.
I am wondering if they are going to chirp and wake Marcel up, early in the morning!

  32. Carolyn-I love watching birds build nests and eventually take care of their babies! Spring is such a time of renewal and hope--just what you need right now. I am so glad the doves and rainbow were there at just the right time. I'm sure it was not a coincidence. By the way, you know I was kidding about being twelve :)
