The little nest

Country Living

What I love most about Spring!

The dawn chorus of birds singing, lambs and calves skipping and playing in the paddocks, the leaves coming back on the deciduous trees and the green grass growing.

For the past few weeks we have been watching Mother Birdie busy with building her nest, outside my Sons bedroom window, in the window box, where it is dry and safe.
She has been going to and fro with twigs and making a safe little nest for her babies.
There are three blue eggs in the nest, so it will be exciting to see them hatch and watch the baby birds grow.
I tried to take a photo through the window, but could not get the angle right and it did not come out well. So I will keep you posted about the new family.

  3. Hi Nancy,

It must be wonderful to be welcoming Spring weather in your part of the world as Autumn is making its presence known here. I love Springtime.

    Pretty post today.
Thinking about you at this time,

  9. Hi Carolyn~ I hope you are doing well. I also hope your happy memories fill your heart during this sad time. Still thinking of you. ~Mandy (I'm amazed it's spring where you are!)

  10. That bird house is so sweet and welcoming, I am not surprised they would want to bring new life into the world in this sweet little home.

Don't you just love nature? I sure do, it is such a great teacher. It never seizes me the wonder of it all, how by instinct they know just what to do and how.

  11. How neat! I thought they just laid eggs during the spring. What a awesome thing to witness~

  12. Hi Carolyn. Love all the photos...that sweet little bird house! Its so windy out here in Northern California that the power went out today...and spring seems very far away. Love all your "hugs" hugs to you, Trish

  13. Thank you very much for visiting Diane.

Thanks for your kind words, it is always great to hear from you.

    Hi Sixpence,

Yes, nature is always so amazing and watching this little bird building a nest and getting everything organized for her little babies when they arrive.
I can imagine them chirping and making a noise outside Marcel's window!

    Hi Susie,

It is Spring here in New Zealand.
    Our Seasons are opposite.

  14. Thank you so much Trish for your kind visit.
We have had quite unusual weather also, loud thunder and lightning last night and it is pouring with rain today.
Oh well, will be good for the hydrangea we have planted on a bank.
I hope that the wind dies down and you don't have anymore power cuts.

  15. Hi Carolyn!!!! this is so cuteeeeeee!!! I love when birds share their homes with we can share in a new birth ....these are wonderful photos!!!

So neat that you are in Spring and we are in Autumn!!!

  16. Love it Carolyn!!
I still can't get used to the fact that it is Spring where you are and Fall here.
Have a great rest of your week,

  17. Hi Diana,

    Many thanks for visiting.
It is lovely having this bird share our outside of the house and she is just sitting patiently waiting for the eggs to hatch.

    Hi Rosemary,

I am enjoying seeing all the neat Autumn decorations you folk over there are sharing.

  18. It's we can support each other so much through hard times, isn't it?

I want to thank you also, for your support of me/us over here. I didn't even know that there were so many kind and caring people in the world, until this happened!

Today is better though. Today the sun shines brightly. Today will be better than yesterday..

  19. Hi: I wanted to say, I thought you were very confused because you were talking about spring. I did not realize where you lived. For us autumn has just begun. I am the one who is confused. Your little bird house is so cute. Blessings, Martha

  22. It is still strange to me that as your birds are nesting our harvest time has begun. Our temps are cooler today which is a lovely respite from our summer heat. Enjoy your spring!

I have been thinking lots about you and the disaster you are experiencing over there.
Sorry to hear of the terrible time you are having.
Sending lots of hugs and good wishes that you can get your life back together. Glad that the sun is shinning and wishing for better days ahead for you.

    Hi Martha,

Yes, it is a little confusing and I had someone else writing the same thing and probably thought that I was going dotty!
Our seasons are opposite, so when we are having Summer,( around December) you will be having Winter.

    Hi DJ,

They are fun to watch and I am wondering once the little birds hatch out, if they are going to be tweeting and chirping and waking Marcel up early in the morning!

    Hi Marie Antoinette,

Lovely to hear from you and it must be so lovely watching your Peacocks.
We had a Domain not far from where we lived, when I was growing up and there were Peacocks and I loved to watch them strutting around and showing off.

    Hi Kim,

After your summer heat it must be nice to have a respite from the heat. Enjoy the Autumn days.

    Thank you Constance.
Nature is such a wonderful thing and I am loving everything I see around me.
    I appreciate your kindness.

    Hi Slices if Beauty,

I love the peanut heart and will make one next time I have peanuts in the shell. Great idea.

thank you Jessica, your hugs and prayers, are so thoughtful.

    Dear Marge,

Many thanks for visiting and always taking the time to share your love and kindness. You are a wonderful friend.

    Dear Bella,

It is fun and I am looking forward to seeing the little birds.
I am wondering if they are going to chirp and wake Marcel up, early in the morning!

  28. Hi Carolyn, what a darling bird house. Your Springtime sounds glorious and nothing better then watching a little momma bird build her nest for the upcoming family.

I see it as a comforting sign from above that life goes on even in our sorrow.
    Hugs, Celestina Marie

  29. Hi Celestina Marie,

Watching the beauty of Nature, all around us, is a great sign.
    Thanks for visiting.

  30. It's it beautiful to see the sights of spring around us? I love hearing the birds in the trees and the little glimpses around.
It is certainly here today - 32 degrees in Sydney.
I love your cottagey images today - and you are most welcome. I do hope sunny days are ahead for you.

    xx Suzi

  31. Thank you Suzi and yes, the days are warming up here and I have been wearing shorts around the house.
Down Country though in Woodville they have had snow, which is unusual for September.

  32. Carolyn-I love watching birds build nests and eventually take care of their babies! Spring is such a time of renewal and hope--just what you need right now. I am so glad the doves and rainbow were there at just the right time. I'm sure it was not a coincidence. By the way, you know I was kidding about being twelve :)

  33. Hello Carolyn
thank you for stopping by today, it was so nice to meet you.
I was reading your post and I am so sorry your father has passed away. My father passed this last year also. It is hard and they will be missed.
    Blessings to you

  34. The bird house is lovely! Those are beautiful graphics. I love the "Graphics Fairy", too!

That peanut heart is darling! It looks like a wonderful time of year at your place!

  35. Hi Susan,

Thank you for visiting and your kind comments you left for me.
I was thinking you were one very talented 12 year old! ~ lol

    Hello Rebecca,

It was lovely to discover your beautiful blog and thanks so much for coming to visit mine.
Sorry your Father passed away last year and yes, we will always miss them, but we need to think of the good memories.

    Hi TattingChic,

The bird house and the peanut heart are lovely.
    Thanks for visiting.

  36. Oh, I love to watch the birds build the nest and fly back and forth. There is nothing like baby birds in spring. This was my first year without them as my tree was gone. Enjoy the activity and the babies!
    Sharon :-)

  37. Hi Sharon,

We are all excited about the nest and eggs and I will let you know when they arrive.

Thank you so much for visiting Draffin Bears.
It always makes me happy to read your comments
